Then eastern Kentucky needs to find something else to drive its economy, because coal is dead. The sooner everyone here comes to terms with this, the sooner they can move on. The other option is to try to hold on to something dead and starve to death in the process.

If you think nothing is here by all means leave dipshit. It's not my job to sit and solve the problems of you ignorant coaltards. As for me being a democrat, I am neither republican or democrat. I have more self respect to associate with either one of those terrorist groups.

There is more coal being mined and burned in the USA today than ever before but a lot fewer miners are employed in mining it. Just check the statistics. Men have been replaced by machines. That is the real cause of job losses in mining. All the other things affecting the industry (EPA etc.) are peripheral. No matter how those issues are decided the fact will remain that as mechanization and automation continues to develop more and more miners will lose their jobs to machines.

My heart goes out to the unemployed, homeless, and hungry. Even the best plans made cannot always guarantee a future in the job market. Yes it would be awesome for the coal mine jobs, and all the other jobs that left to return. But if and until that time, we need to stick together and help one another as able to do so. Much love to all of ya.
