i will probably vote for the Incumbent Mayor Van Johnson,he is a decent guy and family man and i know he loves and cares about God, the city he was born and raised in and he has not done a half -bad job at being mayor, maybe a little better, but he needs to do more to try and attract jobs, and adopt stricter policy about cluttered and overgrown yards and drainage ditches, and spend less time with photo-opportunities,i know thats part of his job,but a little more hands on would not hurt.the gtuy running against him is a man named daly' i am waiting to see what his ideas are,but i am a little concerned that he might care only about the wealthy on the south side of town, but he deserves a fair hearing,so im reserving any any event i think this will be a close first glance this election could boil down to the wealthy southside VS the working men/women Northside.i will keep an open mind on daly' but as of right now im inclined to go with 'Van the Man!

A large portion of Aplach still looks like a 3rd world country. Junk cars, trash and a myriad of run down properties much of which should be condemned and demolished.....but no, can't upset the good ol boys now can we? Mayor and Council need to do whats best for the community, not those with special interests.

i agree with you 100 percent! there is a 'good ole boy' network here and it needs to be broken up! and if the new new guy running for Mayor has a plan then i am going to vote for him, VJ has done some positive things, but progress is way too slow, tax rates countywide are insane and sometimes i think we need a clean sweep, many officials are related to each other or buddy-buddy and are far too comfortable in their are correct about the neighborhoods..half the houses on the northside look like methamphetamine labs! and if a hurricane or bad storm came through the neighborhoods would look the same as when the storm started!
