Another article included this:

Schmidt, the arsenal sergeant at the Panhandle prison, said he asked parents for permission to shock the kids. "When they said 'sure,' I went ahead and did it," he said by phone.

Schmidt was terminated after 14 years with the Department of Corrections.

"It wasn't intended to be malicious, but educational," Schmidt said. "The big shock came when I got fired."

Great. Well, living in Florida isn't boring, although I am getting a bit tired of the teasing from relatives, out of state.

The parents need to be fired too. If they gave the guy permission they need a 2 X 4 upside the head. Oops up side the head, say oops up side the head! We out. Word to yo momma.

He should be educated by receiving jolts from the same stun gun several times.

This is a very shocking story! The guy should get his job back and get a raise to boot. Most kids need a good jolt anyways!

I am SO tired of hearing this BS. Prove it. Show me a case where a person died after being tased where the autoposy showed it was due to the taser...can't can you?

Actually there is a bunch of them. Police officers such as yourself generally stick to your unions positions because of your low level of reading comprehension and IQs

If you are going to create a fair and unbiased website "excerpts from articles" are not used. Factual accounts are.

Of all those who died after being tasered, how many had pre-existing medical issues and how many took drugs prior to the incidents?

You can't criticize a lack of intelligence when you don't display any intelligence yourself.

And you stick to the first thing you find on a google search?

Rather than argue that point, I'll say OK there have been "taser deaths"...NOW, how many lives has the taser saved? Of course we'll never know because there is no way to quantify that.

How many suspects were subdued with a taser that COULD have been hit with an asp instead or gotten an old fashioned beatdown?(few seconds of pain vs possible broken bone?)

How many suspects with a knife or baseball bat have been tasered who COULD have been shot?

How many altercations have been ended quickly by the use of the taser when officer and suspect COULD have gotten into a more physical confrontation and BOTH been injured badly?

How many altercations were avoided alltogether when officers pulled out taser and DIDN'T need to use it because the suspect complies because they don't want to be tased (this happens, I have seen it plenty of times)

How many subjects threatning suicide with a knife or gun in their hand have been tased and possibly saved from themselves?

When an agency begins using tasers, officer AND suspect injuries GO DOWN. If nothing else you should be happy that saves YOU the taxpayer money. In our politically overcorrect world, do you really think so many agencies would be using tasers if they killed people? No, they would go the way of the PITT manuever, vehicle chases, the choke hold and the asp. Police officers need something to subdue criminals, NOTHING they use will be "pretty" on the 5:00 news to folks sitting safe in their homes behind locked doors. Why don't you join the police force and take everybody down with a hug if you think that will work.

There are tradeoffs in everything we do. If a few crack head criminals have a heart attack after being tased (after taking drugs) to save probably many more people, I'm STILL in favor of them.

I have SEEN all the above incidents myself. What have you SEEN to prove me wrong? Google all this and get back to me.
