Go ahead and do it.
You will pay in increased crime.
You will pay in increased public costs.
I hope your elected offiicals are ready to explain to some Mom and Dad why their 14 daughter was raped and killed by an illegal who had 4 dui's, and was never deported. Google Dani Countryman.
You will learn the hard way.

I wonder how many illegal immigrants live in Evanston? Seriously...
#4 Jan 10, 2008
Very good, glad to see some towns are going in the right direction

I'm a pick pocket. We PP's need to band together as an oppressed group. The leaders in Evanston should look the other way when we are doing our job. Also, Evanston should go out and bring in people from 50 other nations other than Mexico to prove that they don't believe discriminatory favoritism.

Wow only one comment so far on this?
Evanston Village hall is filled with idiots. No reason for them to pass any law that provides sanctuary for illegal aliens. If they are here illegally they should be sent home, period.... I'm not a racist or against any immigrants staying in the USA but right now there is no provisions for them to do so legally. I feel that we should let most immigrants stay(everyone knows we need the tax money from all of them) but unitl they can ante-up like the rest of us and pay their fair share, they need to go. Who are these do-gooders in Evanston, messing up our country? Did they run out of budgets to approve, road signs to buy, or new ordinances to hassle people with?

Excellent news! Sooner or later those immigrants will be come citizens. Lets face it, we are not about to send them all back to where they came from, in one way or another they will be given pathway to citizenship.
God bless America!

Braking today's Immigration law is nothing but can't do else. There is so much nonesense to deport undocumented immigrant who works, pay taxh and has no criminal record.Give them a chance. legalize them and if after that they don't play by roles then take an action.
To wellcome newcomer it's an American way not deporting them.USA Federal Gov.should put the meratorium on deporting the andocumented immigrants with clear or non criminal recor to deport those with it.Dos Bless USA.

This has nothing to do with immigration!!!
It has to do with automatically assuming that a person that appears to be from another country will be treated as if they are leagal in the US and not treated otherwise.
I agree with the Evanston officials that they would take this action. After all we are one race, the human race.
This doesn't guarantee that crime will increase and illegals will flock to Evanston.
Read the article and understand what it says before un-called for comments are made.
We are a country that was founded on immigration. That is before immigration laws were set. Don't forget folks at one point all of our ancestors were here illegally and robbed the land for the Native American Indian.
Now what so you have to say?

Don't forget folks at one point all of our ancestors were here illegally and robbed the land for the Native American Indian.
Now what so you have to say? I HAVE ALOT TO SAY YOU IDIOT, THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM THAT IS HAPPENING IN 2008. KICK THE ILLEGALS OT NOW !

How can some of you posters be
pro illegal immigration and still
call yourselves a good citizen of this country?
You just lay down like dogs and let
the law of the land be mocked.
Yes, Politiwriter, Sheriff Joe Arpaio
is keeping the pressure on in Maricopa,
County (Phoenix, Mesa, Tempe etc.)
Plus a tough new law for those employing illegals.
Oh, yes don't drink and drive out
here. 1st. offense can get you 10 days in jail plus a couple of other unpleasant penalties. Among them
those convicted of DUI wear pink
shirts out on the chain gang.
You will be in tent city and get to
wear pink underpants (guys).
The regular chain gang black and white stripes (traditional you know
but you still get the pink underpants)
Ladies the world's first all woman
chain gang is right here in Maricopa
County. All's equal out here.

And this article has nothing to do with ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS!!! You're not the sharpest tool in the shed are you?
I can help it if you can't scrounge up enough intelligence to make a decent comment.
As far as persons being here illegally, we can all see that the US is way to lenient on scoff-laws. It is way out of control with very little resource to solve the problem. Streamwood and other towns are making the correct actions to involve local law enforcement officials in the fight in catching persons that are here illegally.

It is amazing what Evanstonians will put up with. Heck, 10 years of that last police chief proves they will buy into any amount of steamy bull caca. Currently there is a burglary crime wave of an epic scale. I feel sorry for the new Chief (who by the way seems to actually know police work) because of what was set in place by the previous administration.
No car insurance? Come on in! Worried about getting arrested for burglary then deported? Never again! Evanston is fresh with tons of cars to break into! And dont worry about the police! 95 % of the time they are dealing with the unsupervised brats terrorizing the highschool and downtown or the retail theft bums who have free reign at being pests. Or dealing with a found bike, or a bat in a house, or a loose dog, or who knows whatever other huge number of calls a police resource officer or full time animal warden could be taking care of.
Remember, it does not cost the city a penny if someone's car or house or business is broken into or someone is robbed. But it sure costs a lot to prevent it.

Really BAD idea!
Why on earth would it be wrong to inquire re someone's legal status? Basic human rights? How about basic law?
Let's BOYCOTT Evanston!

"was founded by Hispanic-hating bigot John Tanton who loves to go to bed with white supremacist groups such as the Council for Conservative Citizens"
Lots of folks, including myself, are NOT Spanish hating, but are against invasions by illegals. Can't play the race card since not all illegals are Mexican!

" wonder how many illegal immigrants live in Evanston? Seriously"
Are you kidding? They are everywhere!
These types of restrictions re questions would never fly in any other country!

Wrong! If you believe that ALL of OUR ancestors came here illegally then you must recognize that the so-called "Native" American Indians also came to North America illegally. Or is that possible to arrive on a portion of continent before it is a "country". None of the people who arrived in the north american area now called the US of A before 1776 should be classified as illegal if the "native" americans are not illegal.
Those people who occupied the north american continent before the europeans came from somewhere else.

Immigration Terminology 101
With the vitriolic immigration debate roiling in all parts of our country, it is important to understand terminology. Be prepared to dispel the half-truths and no truths of the way those who are illegally in our country are described by their advocates. Knowledge is power:
1.) Unlawful; illegitimate; illicit; unlicensed.
2.) Illegal, unlawful, illegitimate, illicit, criminal can all describe actions not in accord with law.
3.) Illegal refers most specifically to violations of statutes.
4.) Prohibited by law
1.) a person who is not a citizen of the country.
2.) in the United States any person born in another country to parents who are not American and who has not become a naturalized citizen. There are resident aliens officially permitted to live in the country and illegal aliens who have sneaked into the country or stayed beyond the time allowed on a visa.
1. to enter like an enemy: Locusts invaded the fields
2. to enter as if to take possession: To invade a neighbor's home
3. to enter and affect injuriously or destructively, as disease: Viruses that invade the bloodstream.
4. to intrude upon: To invade the privacy of a family.
5. to encroach or infringe upon: to invade the rights of citizens.
6. to permeate: The smell of baking invades the house.
7. to penetrate; spread into or over: The population boom has caused city dwellers to invade the suburbs
Those illegally in a country are not "immigrants". There is no such thing as an "illegal immigrant". An immigrant is involved with an established and orderly procedure of immigration (entering a country to which one is not native in order to settle there by legal process).
They are not immigrants, not undocumented immigrants (Kennedy, et. al’s favorite), not undocumented workers, not undocumented Americans (Harry Reid’s favorite), not economic immigrants (Big Business and Wall Street favorite) not immigrants without work papers, not people who are working (Enrique Morone’s favorite), not migrant workers, and not day laborers.
The government has defined them as "illegal aliens" and explicitly uses that term in all its laws and statutes. So keep it simple…a spade is a spade…they are illegal aliens. Or, if you’d prefer, another term that would be just as correct to use is "invaders". I would consider the two interchangeable.
One other definition is exceedingly useful since you’ll hear with every piece of amnesty legislation, the open border lobbyists and invader advocates will declare that it isn’t amnesty in the hope that you will think so. Here’s the definition of amnesty so you can decide for yourself:
AMNESTY is legislation to forgive the breaking of immigration laws and to make it possible for illegal aliens to live permanently in the United States. Amnesty represents a system of federal rewards and assistance for illegal aliens, and they entice an even greater number of foreign nationals to illegally enter a country.
1. A general pardon for offenses against a government
2. An act of forgiveness for past offenses, esp. to a class of persons as whole
3. Forgetting or overlooking any past offense
There you have it, folks. Knowledge is power…use it wisely.
