This is a difficult one.

For years the City of Arnold was using every dollar of federal grant money it could get to buy out anyone in the flood area that wanted to go.

Does anyone know if these two home owners were every offered a buyout in the past and turned it down?

Can you say Photo Op??? Their homes are in a flood plain. One home owner purchased in 1997 and the other in 2004. It's not like they weren't aware of the hazard. The rest of the homes that surrounded these were bought out. These homeowners previously turned down the offer of a FEMA buyout. They should be paying for flood insurance. They are in a 100 year flood plain for which BFEs have been determined. Seriously folks, is it the city's fault these people have chosen to live in a flood plain?

Why don't you stick a bone up your anal sphincter and wait for your system to back up through your mouth?

Mr. Counts has never advocated the use of eminent domain and has actually expressed opposition to its unwarranted use. The previous council under the direction of Robert Sweeney is the one who delighted in taking people's homes and businesses by using/abusing eminent domain....Crisler fell right in with that group once he got in....

Figured you would say something like that. Its funny but if Powell was still in office and Hay was down there getting on TV you would be saying Powell should be helping thses folks out and Hay would be blasting City Hall. So Please enough with your dumbass post. Your Buddy Hay and old man counts are turning their backs on ward 1. People have been calling Hay and the phone calls ARE not getting returned plain and simple. Again Matt Hay the so called savior of starling subdivision is no where to be found. Hay was down there 2 years ago trying to get votes as he was filling sandbags and blasting city hall now he is turning his back on the people that voted him in. WTH you cant even stand up to counts. Or do the people in ward One have to fill your pockets with money in order for you to help them. First you turn on them by voting to raise the sewer rates now you turn your back on them when some peoples houses are in jeapordy. You are without a doubt the biggest joke of a councilman ward one has ever had. Well then again there is Vinson

I saw this on the 9 o'clock news. The one gentleman said he was offered a buy out in 1998 I believe but he had just purchased the home.
I cannot believe the city will not help them. The city also claims they will not buy them out because they don't have money. Will be interesting to see where this goes

No one has called Mr. Hay and not received a return call. Don't lie little Jimmie. You can't even address adults, you have to make remarks directed at kids. Where do you get off saying people have to fill his pockets? Like I said before just because he is a public official doesn't mean you can make things up and lie about him. You had better be able to back up your statements with some kind of proof, because you and I both know he has never accepted money from anyone for help. Too bad you aren't man enough to say things in person to people. Guess your nads never dropped from your abdominal cavity either....might explain your lack of courage.

While I feel for anyone who has to endure constant flooding in their area, one flood for me and I would be out fast. Never could understand why people insist in living in flood prone areas.

Im tired of everyone looking for a handout. It seems most people are to lazy to help themselves. They decided to live there, they had to purchase flood insurance before they could close on their loan to purchase the house. In my opinion they made their bed and now they need to lie in it.

Guess what how many times has that area flooded??? They were offered buyouts....house changed hands in 2004 Guess you where made well aware of flooding problems. I dont think the homes should even be covered with insurance at all this is why the rates for everyone are always increasing...That said I fully believe you have every right to live where you please just dont ask for taxpayer protection pay as you gamble because its nothing personal with the river I think it was there first

Arnold city government(If you want to call it that.)is a sham. They spend more on their salaries and taxpayer paid for vehicles than anything. Its all about money and not the well being of the citizens.Thats why when budgets get tight they threaten the public safety offices first. Not once do you hear one of the public officials willing to take temporary pay cuts or PAY FOR THEIR OWN VEHICLE.No we will just threaten the the public with lack of police or fire fighters.Off topic who cares!

Hey homeowner, you bought it, you deal with it. We didn't buy near flood water because we didn't want to have the worries or hassles of flood water. You chose to live near the flood water, you deal with it, why should everyone else? Your area gets flooded on a regular basis, didn't you do your homework before you bought the house? Not everyone else's fault, its your problem, deal with it.

If the City of Arnold offered to put up sandbags to save the house decide what you want a saved house with a smaller deck or a flooded house. No one care what happens to your pool, its your problem, deal with it.

There are some mean people on here. I do not think arnold people are really this mean. The story says volunteers helped out these residents last time so that means some in Arnold have good hearts.
