One question: If a black person is BORN in America then why should they be called African American? Everybody is a decendent of somebody! You are blowing hot air! You just said, "If you were born in the US, regardless of ethnicity, you are an American". I rest my case! If a person is born in America they are an American! Of course, you have to bring up the SLAVE thing. That is history! Over and done! If people would just let that go , that would solve some of the racial issues which are getting worse. Yes, I am smart and I know how to google, but I also have some common sense which you do not seem to have!<quoted text>
Your post that I replied to:
First of all, your question was stupid and as clear as mud.
Once again just for thick-headed Norton whose question makes no sense at all. Hispanics and Latinos are not referred to as hispanic americans or latino americans because the terms themselves indicate who they are and where they came from.
Blacks who are descendents of African slaves are called African Americans because they were born here in America and never lived in Africa.
If you were born in the United States, regardless of ethnicity, you are an American.
Next time go look it up yourself, cuz you said you were smart and know how to google.
Black, white, brown, red..........born in this country, you are American, period. African-American denotes racial tones!
