Been there, my sister lives there, love it but to small for me, everyone knows your business and if you like shopping or a big night life forget it.It is a great place to relax.6376

No use or need for "night life" (usually that brings troubles of its own); but definitely yeah—not much shopping except Wal-Mart and (expensive) mom-and-pop/tourist shops, restaurants, etc. It's basically Peyton Place for wealthy individuals and retirees who earned their money elsewhere and can afford to live here.(*30+ yr. resident*)

I love Southport. The history behind this town is very interesting. If you ever get a chance to take a walking tour go ahead and do it. It's worth every dime! Also visit The Trolly Stop and eat one of their famous hot dogs.....makes my mouth water just thinking about it!
