DON'T OUR POLICE HAVE RADIOS ANYMORE? I've never heard of a car that can outrun a radio message?

Isn't that the Darwin awards?!

HELLO! How are you? Hope all is going well with you and your family.

Did you know that PGH made news out here in Las Vegas today? It was all about the air quality. I thought that was cleaned up years ago? We didn't make the list, but ya don't want to be here when we have a sand storm either.

Unfortunately, we sometimes have our local news casts showing high speed chaces - from California! I'll never understand that. Los Angeles is a 4 hr 278 mile drive from here.

I think the perps have watched to many episodes of Dukes of Hazzard and think they can get away. All they do is put other lives in danger.

Just wanted you to know I haven't forgotten about my PA friends:-)

You take care, now

FanOfAll, how are you? Oh, I'm sooooo glad to hear from you. Family is doing well, thanks for asking. My mom-in-law is recovering well from cancer surgery just this past Jan 22. My 6th grandchild was born Jan 25. We have much to thank God for. For her 94th b'day, my mom-in-law is finally having the cateracts removed. Hoorah! The fog will be lifted & this dear woman will be able to see clearly. As for Pgh & the pollution...The American Lung Asso. tested the air in one area that is next to a coke plant. Now, that was dumb. Duh! Of course, the air is going to be polluted. Have you read the talk about merging Pgh w/ Allegheny County?? Talk about dumb, stupid, political posturing. Ugh. Once again, the politicians are demonstrating that they care only about themselves, their power, their power base. What happened to being a public servant? OK. I'm breathing...relaxing, dropping the shoulders. Ahhhh, that's better. Please, keep in touch :)

Good afternoon! Sunny & clear and 80 something degrees in the Las Vegas Valley today. Thia is a cool day - pretty soon, we'll be into the triple digits for several months. Its not bad; we have less of the 100+ degree days that you have of below 35 degree days. I will send warming sunshine back to ya!

I had misunderstoon the article; I thought it just was the police departments that were going no merge; not the entire city and county - WOW! I hope that comes up for a vote before the people and the political powers do not do it themselves.

Here in Nevada, we get a say - vote - in what happens here. Unless we, the voters OK it, we will never have a state income tax. There are many more items we voters have a say in - many more than what I remember in PA. I'd LOVE if all of you could have a bigger voice in what goes on in Harrisburg as we have in Carson City.

HOORAY, that your mom in law withh have her surgery soon - in time to clearly see all the Summer beauty in PA. Especially, the Fall colors. I love the desert, but there is nothing more beautiful that PA in the full bloom of Fall colors!

SEE! Didn't forget about younz - I do check back to see how everyone is. Take care now and I'll drop in more often!

Harrisburg release its control and allow voters to decide...ohhh, now, that would be healthy for PA. I don't see that happening any time soon, sorry to say.
A cool day at 80 degrees. Ahhh, perspective. It's 56 degrees this morning in the tri-state area. It's supposed to warm up to 65 degrees by this afternoon.
Please continue to remember us. I'll continue to remember you.

What the county needs is a helicopter with FLIR, a video camera and a Thermal imager on it available to the local flat foots so when stuff like this happens the cops can back off and let the helicopter guide the units in. These high speed chases are BS. There dangerous, forget radios, your not getting past a helicopter once they lock onto you.

Pittsburgh cops are stupid that way.

I do agree about the FLIR. However, I won't say anyone is 'stupid' until I meet and talk with them.

Bug the FOP or go to a City Counsel meeting and suggest a FLIR;it IS a very good system.

Hello, my Friend:-)

I wish and pray ALL the time, that you, the residents and my friends and family could have a vote in state government like we do here in Nevada. I have encountered people from out of state who are dumbfounded that we have this system. Been this way for decades. I belive it is more of a fair way for taxpayers to have a say over their hard earned money. I won't give up hope for all of you on this idea!

THANK YOU - I will continue to check back!

And this from the state that has had legalized gambling for years...what a shock. Who would've thunk it. Well, it goes to show ya, that we don't know everything, huh? sigh. PA is so corrupt...I wish that the political clime were such that there would really & truly be a change for the betterment of PA citizens. sigh. I may be wearing a "sandwich board" this Nov. I wore one a couple of yrs ago when judges were due for reelection. Got a reporter & a senator to talk w/ me. Sen Wayne Fontana, unfortunately, goes along w/ the status quo...no change there. I'll work to get him out. The little changes, tho', are insufficient...the corruption runs that deep.

'status quo'- THAT says it all, my Friend. When I lived in Indiana County, I went to every township meeting every month. Everytime our Supervisers wanted to enact an ordinance, people would turn out and hoot and boo and nothing ever changed. No one wated to listen to ideas about change.

I found nevada to be so refeshing with the way the state government will listen to the people. I was suffering from culture shock - still do at times.

I am not a gambling person, but I do love where I live and I live in sight of 3 casinos. our neighborhood has not experienced any problems in the 4 years I have lived here. We have no wage tax, per capita tax, commuter tax, parking is free no toll roads in the entire state, a state government thats about 1/8 the size of PA.

You stay strong, my Friend; change only comes through education. Let people know that the PA way is not the only way. Look at other states - not just Nevada- for ideas on how to change PA state government.

In Cambria County, near Carrolltown, is a 4 lane stretch of Rt 219 that stops suddebly, just south of the borough. Its been that way for nearly 25 years. It may never be finished.

Here in Las Vegas - Clark County - I have seen more road projects started and completed in 5 years than I saw finsihed in PA in over 30 years. And I mean multi level freeways too.

I'll stay in touch and I will hope and pray that positive change comes to the residents of my home state:-)

Hey, how yinz doin'? A great big Pgh hello, Joanie. Nevada sure sounds as if it actually treats its citizens w/ respect. How refreshing. Soooo much would have to change in PA for that to happen. I'll press on. I want a better place for my children and my grandchildren. Taxation w/out healthy representation was wrong then and is still wrong today. Gov. Rendell is giving away our money as if it were his. Whattaya think 'bout that, eh? As for road projects...ohhhh, PennDot is repairing roads that had been done less then 3 yrs ago. What a joke! It's all about jobs, lady!! Ohhh, really??? This is just some, as you unfortunately experienced when you lived here. The good ole' boys mentality is alive and all too well here in PA or Payus as I refer to our state.

PAyus?!
Oh my - I never heard that descriptive term before, but, thinking back to just 8 and 1/2 years ago when I left, that sounds right.

I wish I could travel back to PA, go before the entire legislature and give 'em a piece of my mind. Considering they all probably think I live in a horrible town, they'd all laugh at me.

I have told my new friends out here how PA state gov't is, and they laugh. Living out West is diffeerent. I can't get my friends and family back in Indiana county to believe that.

Our utility bills out here are much lower than I ever paid in PA over 30 some odd years - and what my folks paid before that.

New ideas are NOT bad options to consider. Starting with taking away all that 'walking around money' they get. That would save millions of $$ a year - just to start.

I applaud your courage - change has to start someplace.

I'll be in touch:-)

The sad part is that, given the opportunity to give them a piece of your mind, they would not listen to a word that you said. You're not "one of them." Nevada is sounding better and better, gov't that is. Family is here; we'll stay here. Soooo, I'll keep speaking my mind, contacting reporters, wearing the sandwich boards, attend meetings and hope for a change for the better. It's raining here. It's a pleasant rain so far. Good time for an afternoon nap:)

PA is a beautiful place, with all the mountains and senic views and parks. However, everyone I know back in my home township live at or below the poverty level - thats obscene.

Taxes have to be lowered or businesses will pull out and never come back. Its folks like you who speak out and make a difference that will make a difference in PA......in time. That bugs me too - the legislature sure does take its time - we Git R Done in 120 days every 2 years. That should be the first change; slice the Legislature by 1/3 and cut salaries; do away with 'walking around money' and all the meal money and perks, and I'll wager that MILLIONS will be saved.

You'll need that nap - lots of work ahead.

I will also send some blue skys and warm temps as well:-)

The family gathered at my mom-in-law's for supper. It helped her to feel a little bit better. She is disappointed that she is unable to see clearly. The eye is swollen...she forgot that they told her that... and it may be up to 2 weeks before she'll see clearly. She is really unhappy about that, I'll tell ya. It's still raining here...gentle. As long as it remains that way, we'll be OK...no flooding.
