If you lived in the area you don't need a photo.

Thank you for the article Mcall! We have these all over our house and I have been running to avoid them thinking that they were mosquitos!

They actually will eat mosquitos, so Crane flies are always welcome around here......just not INSIDE the house.

Personally, I've always enjoyed the smokey flavor of Mesquito Barbecue Sauce.

Well at least they told us that they don't BITE...I saw my kids "freak out" when they saw these things. I will sleep better now knowing that they won't gnaw on my arm.

I just smashed one of those gross looking things yesterday. I'm sorry, but did anyone else do a double read at the name Louise Bugbee? How appropriate.

AH yes, they were visiting the barn sunday, as our chores were done and we broke out the brews and started the chicken on the grill, a few of those B-52 bombers came in the barn, and they are quite large and they buzz right to you, I was trying to coax one to land on my finger but it didnt. Yes they come around this time of the year and they are neat. Ever wonder how many times there wings flutter in a minute?? To fast to count..
The worse problem is how much we pay scientists to figure out the male and female sex of bugs. Now spread your wings, next your legs, we got Frank and Beans here Sally! That will be $500!

I've always known these things as "Jersey Mosquitos." They've been around here as long as I remember.

I guess the people from Upper/Lower Macungie that freaked out about them must have moved into this area recently, otherwise they would have known about them.

I walk in my back yard and they swarm all over the place. They were bad last year, too.
