Mitchell should place Perdock on leave until this case is finished. What is normal routine done 100's times a day, every day became one of the lst blunder's of this case. The State Attorney General should intervene. Why? Why would an officer come forward and tell the truth as to what transpired when his boss (Perdock) has the right to fire him/her at anytime. So Dinius is used as the scapegoat. How can any of them hold there heads up here and walk the streets. You were suppose to uphold the law, protect the citizens....you didn't even protect the scene.
The majority of our community is upset and rightfully so.

They maybe upset, but it's because misinformation like this is being reported as fact.

If we supported placing every cop who was being sued on adminsitrative leave, we'd hardly have enough to cover the streets, and we'd still have to pay them too. It's not only not done 100's of times, it's a violation of their rights under the POBR, 3300 etseq California Government Code.

Officers have come forward and told the truth about this case, yet haven't been fired? Why? Again I refer you to the Peace Officer's Bill of Rights found in the Government Code. They are NOT at-will employees, and can't be fired without due process.

I suspect they hold their heads up, knowing they did a good job because despite the publicity and press attacks, no one has proved even an iota of fact surrounding a cover-up, conspiracy or corruption. They know they do a difficult job well, and so they did in this case as well. Much as you'd like it to be something else, it ain't.

It's not a question of being sued, it's a question of being a suspect in a manslaughter case.

Yes, I know, he was never a suspect in the legal sense. But he should have been, and as such placed on administrative leave until the investigation was completed or until he was no longer a suspect.

Since he was the proximate cause of Thornton's death (not just my opinion, but the opinion of the most experineced marine accident expert who's weighed in) he should have been not only placed on administrative leave, but charged as well.

Well you got that one right.

As for the the marine expert, people who are being intellectually honest realize he's a witness for the defense, and you can't hang you hat on a single witness. One person's opinion shouldn't be enough to cause someone to lose a job, or convict anyone of anything.

Hey Vel,

People use other people's pseudonyms, because, as Wow has said many times before, they are cowards. It is a shame that those individuals, their wives, and cronies don't have enough chuzpah to show themselves, and prefer to play childish games rather than engage in honest dialogue.

Not only is there more than one witness for the defense, there's more than one marine expert witness. And the evidence provided by them is more of a factual nature than simply "one person's opinion".

Nice try, but FAIL.

Hiiiiii, as many of you know, I am more than qualified to write about DAMAGED REPUTATIONS. What many of you don't know is that I own vacation property in Lake County. Ohhhhh, how I love Lake County in the summer. However, in the winter months I find it difficult to moonwalk and only wear one glove, etc. After all, I'm pushing 50 and you all can imagine what cold weather does to my fragile bones.

Recently, I was in beautiful Lake County, prancing around in a beautiful skin tight purple outfit with diamonds shimmering everywhere, when it was brout to my attention that high profile individuals were in hot water. This is my chance to give back to the community I thought, as I flew through the air much like the FTD Florist guy, only better.

Ooooooh, I shreaked! As I did cartwheels up and down my beautiful hallway decked out in gold, marble, etc. I immediately admired myself in a mirror, changed glove and called my hair dresser.

My hair dressers name is Shelley. He is such a beautiful, muscular, 18 year old boytoy I've known since he was 11 years old. I adopted him after his redneck dad couldn't handle the fact that his son wanted to be a female dancer in my band. But I digress.......

Anyway, Shelley is so full of wisdom and grace. She was curently in London giving Elton John a full body massage, but didn't hesitate to take my call. I proceeded to tell her the whole story about these prominent Lake County individuals. Her advice to me was, "Start an advice column."

Ooooooooh I shreaked, I was so excited that I moon walked for 12 hours straight just thinking about all the ways I could help the precious people of Lake County. I then took off all my clothes, except for the glove ofcourse, and admired myself in the mirror. For the next two hours I permormed a myriad of my popular dance moves in front of the miirror. I thought and thought and thought and then, in a flash I did high speed robotic moves over to my hot pink computer.

Oooooh! The doorbell's ringing. It's my friend Adrian here for a playdate. I'll be back later.
But in the meantime, you can feel free to ask me anything. My column is called, Ask Michael!

Outdated technology? How so?

Or are you just making crap up?

One thing I've noticed here is how the pro Perdock folks make a lot of assertions without providing any citations to support them.

A_Boater,
We do provide citations to support them, you just choose to bypass the information given and go right back to the "Perdock did it!" response, or I should say "Perdock did it!" defense. That's all Haltom could come up with. There was no defending his client, ie "he wasn't drunk, he, being an expert sailer, knows the lights were on", etc. It was just "Perdock did it!, Perdock did it!, Perdock did it!" And then the rediculous comment in his final argument that "it's not like driving a car, a six year old girl could take the tiller." Which is it Haltom, Dinius is an expert sailor and knew what he was doing, or he's a six year old girl that doesn't need to know? You can't have it both ways.

Red here knows lots of Cops... And I will say it again.. CHP is the lesser evil in this county...MOST of the boys were raised right by thier Momma's. CPD is even cleaner (and funner) than the SO!

Hey Confused..
If U did a Little more digging, You too could come to the same conclusion... The SO is dirtier than CPD... The SO just trys to put on a Better Persona...No Doubt CPD is dirty, but atleast they are a little more honest about it.(Plus they are the Best Entertainment..and a couple of them aren't too bad on the eyes either and are decent humans...as far as cops go...
CHP seems to have a little bit more going for them than the other 2 Agencies..But as we all know.. There is the Good and Bad with Everything... There will always be some Badge Heavy Law Enforcement Person... who thinks they can Walk on Water and are so much better than us "Little People"...
And then there will always be Some Good Concerned Cop, trying to do his best..but confused... Because he has now came to the conclusion that the guy he just arrested and has in the back of his car... is probally more trustworthy and honest than his Superiors... Its just the nature of the Beast...

Glad We dont have those issues in my Line of Work <grin>

Have a Great Monday

Has anyone mentioned the missing time between the accident and Perdocks blood test which coincides with the 6 hours the boat was left un attended.
Lights out.
