Just because someone has money to donate to use as a tax write off does not make them a great person. Lets not forget this man cheated, beat his wife and lied to his family and it was all proven in court. Imagine what he has put his first family through? This man tried to put an innocent women in prison while he was cheating on her with a high priced whore. Why is everyone trying to make him a martyr?
You are clueless! Ted was a wonderful, giving, generous & loyal man. He made many charitable contributions, it became an inside joke among those that were close to him, that Ted couldn't say no, and we loved him for it.
With all due respect, It was not proven in court that their was spousal abuse. Let's not forget he was shot. If the ex was so abused why didn't she leave? Ted was Ambushed, shot coming out of a walk-in closet. Why, with her husband shot on the floor, did she rip the phone from the wall?
As far as his first family, it is an unfortunate situation, but it also was a 2-way street. I think Ted felt it was natural for the kids to side with their mother, but he was also hurt by this. He loved his children, and grandchildren. Ted was guilty of cheating, but as soon as the shot was fired, there was no going back. Ted never intended on hurting anyone, and certainly not destroying his relationship with his children. That decision was made for him.

I think the reporting on this item was horrendous. Such a tradgedy all the way around. The reporters never even metioned who his surviving relatives were. They didn't mention his kids. Three of whom are under the age of 7. Totally rude and very insensitive. They only tried to drudge up the "dirt". Pathetic reporting in my opinion.
True . The herald report was horrible, instead of digging up old dirt, someone should have done a background check on the new wife, there is plenty of dirt there

I knew Ted many many years ago, I worked with him at a company in Pacific Grove. Probably about 38 years. I was talking with friends and we started talking about the Monterey area and people we knew, so went I came home I googled Ted and was shocked to hear of his death. The Ted I remember was a very kind, thoughtful and caring person. My prayers are with his family and friends. God Bless.

The article in the Carmel Pine Cone was much better. It spoke of the Ted that I think most people knew and want to remember.
The Pine Cone has a "heart"..

To Albert: I know that isn't your real name. I know exactly who you are. You have a dishonest, angry, bitter soul. You tell lies to protect yourself from harsh reality. You place judgement on everyone but maybe it's you who should look in the mirror. You are the biggest hypocrite.

Ted Leidig was nothing but a kind, gentle soul, with a big heart.Yes, he made mistakes...we all do.

Did you ever think that maybe it was his older children that turned on him?

Look lets not forget the pass, but move forward. My uncle is gone and I miss him a lot, but lets not fight either. I'm glad you cared about my uncle, he was a great man. He didn't give up on himself. He just didn't want to be in pain anymore. He never stopped loving his children. And I don't believe they ever stopped loving him either.

How dare you...you dont know his new wife or what the situation was. Dont believe everything you hear around town. Teds new wife is one of the nicest most giving people I know. She has been harassed enough by this community and u don't need to add on to it.

came upon this quite by accident and thought I would correct some misinformation.
I am Ted Leidig's widow or the"new" wife. He was and still is the deep love of my life. I watched his bi-polar depression take him, consume him until he no longer felt there was a out.
At the time of his death, he did NOT drive a land/range rover & had not for nearly a year. His car plates read 'The Ted'- I picked it out. I drove the GMC SUV since I had 3 car seats. 2yr old twins & 4yr daughter. Hence, Leidig 5. Ted had a Jeep for his cabin & an extra Volvo station wagon for care giver.
In 2005, Ted had mad certain wishes for his funeral. I complied with his requests
Regarding his stepson, Lee, but overrode his adment wishes in regards to his daughter, Dana.
I have lived to regret defying Ted's wishes.
Ted was the most loving, gentle, funny man I have known.
Search for your dirt & scandal. What you don't find; someone will make up.
Ted & I were happy & blessed with 3 bright, funny, beautiful children. Thank goodness there is another Ted Leidig.:)
