Anyone who knew Ted Leidig well is aware that he is and always will be much loved in the community. His philanthropy to civic and charitible organizations and individuals is well known. Less well known is his anonomous generosity. Ted was never comfortable with that type of recognition.

Ted was much loved by his employees, tenants, business associates, community leaders and friends. His passing is a great loss to so many of us and Carmel and the MTY Peninsula will not be the same without him.

My sympathies go out to the Leidig family. White Rock is up by Rancho San Carlos and is very relaxing.

Was not commenting on the situation, just trying to point out the weak reporting. If you knew Kenney or Grimes you would not be so quick with your sarcastic
remarks.

I think the reporting on this item was horrendous. Such a tradgedy all the way around. The reporters never even metioned who his surviving relatives were. They didn't mention his kids. Three of whom are under the age of 7. Totally rude and very insensitive. They only tried to drudge up the "dirt". Pathetic reporting in my opinion.

In the last few days, I have told my children--friends of Ted's children-- about his dedication to his family, his community, his childrens' school, his philanthropies. I expected as much from the Herald....horrible reporting about an amazing man who will be missed by many.

I hope that one day I can contribute as much as he.

It was reported shots were heard. How many shots does it take to kill yourself?

I will miss you forever. I will always love you. That's why I'm not going to say I loved you because my love for you will never end. I will not let Abbie, Teddie, and Tristian not know who you are. I will remember you as a happy, smily, and laughing uncle. I love you forever and forever. I hope that you are in a better place and not in pain anymore.

this isn't about the writers. this is about my uncle. And I agree they did not say anything about him except his battle with his ex-wife.

My God, I am so sick of this brutal newspaper. It took TWO reporters to write a 400 word story on a man who's family is one of the oldest in Carmel? It took TWO of you to dig out nothing more than was in your clip files in a room 15 feet from your desks? It would be comical were it not for the fact that people's lives are involved. Obviously, his trial merits mention. No question. He was a complicated man. But to be complicated, you must have two opposing points of view. If these TWO reporters could have --- I don't know --- interviewed someone, they'd likely have heard that Ted's death represents what some people feel is a great loss to the community. He had three very young children. Could that have made an appearance? Maybe this story was written on deadline. Could you have followed up the next day? What I find most galling about the Herald is that when we need it most, the paper provides a caricature of real journalism. Every time this newspaper hits my driveway, I feel a little bit embarrassed for having paid for it.

I want to add that while I did know Ted, he was not a friend. I was galled by the behavior that was described in his trial. The trial merited serious mention in the story. But a slight bit of effort could have showed a rounded a journalistically responsible perspective.

Yes, he did, with personalized plates. Kind of hard to miss it..plates had LEIDIG plus a number. Matter of fact, he had a large GMC SUV with LEIDIG plates, too.

True. The Herald is a sad excuse for a newspaper. Their continual leftist bent turns the stomachs of many here. Perhaps that is one reason why the paper is doing so poorly financially, with continual staff cuts.

you know what why are you replying if you compare his behavior to how he really was? you didn't truly know him.

The press coverage from the Herald just makes a very sad situation much worse. There is no need to bring up the trial ect... at this time. I encourge the Herald to write more articles about my uncle's and the Leidig family as whole contribution to Carmel and the people of Monterey over the years. That would also be a good story that would also sell papers.
