Lawsuits challenge general plan

There IS NOT room for more developement here. This Valley has literally been RAPED by the developers..the roads a mess, traffic so congested. It takes me up to 10 minutes to even get onto the valley road from our street and thats during non peak time. When is it going to STOP???And water is a whole 'nother issue...we are rationed already..where is the new water coming from??I dont want to see MY rates increase again...This gorgeous Valley has been so damaged by all these new ugly enormous homes..that house a mere 2 people ..maybe.
Time to leave us alone and go build in another state....
They want to ruin Ray Hackwoths gorgeous September Ranch with condos and that is a SIN...Ray would roll over in his grave...LEAVE OUR VALLEY ALONE!!!

I can respect those that dont want huge developements, I agree. But they are also tieing the hands of the little guy that has a 2 story County approved building that the person who owned the property prior to me turned the upstairs into a 3 bedroom unit 864 sq ft house was lost in foreclosure and was purchased by us in March 2010. They are forcing us to legalise the unit, fine here are our plans, here is $10,000. 2 months into it they adopt the general plan, and have the nerve to tell me we can return 50% of your money and you have to gut it or remove 264 sq ft because now you can only have it as a guest house not a caretakers quarters. I am on a road I own, on 10.8 acres I am bothering no one. All I want this for is so my 24 year old son has a place to sleep when he comes home to visit, as well as my other adult children. I am hurting NO ONE, and the structure is already there!!!! No building, No traffic!! I loose $5,000 and have to pay the artchitect for new plan and have to figure out how to loose 264 square feet due to the damn general plan! Identify the threats to the County, huge developements, not Mom and Dad that want the 2 tour war vet son to have a place to sleep!! This General Plan, is Generally STUPID!!! 11 years of stupidity, so glad our tax dollars went to such intelligence. Telling me my unit that no one lives in permanantly is impacting traffic, on my private road, and the county has no water, I have my own tanks and well. Come on people fix this before you know it there going to make us limit so many square feet per person cause that's all they feel we need. We are in AMERICA, where is the freedom??????????

Sorry for your situation but I have known of a couple others in your situation and I am told that all that was to be disclosed to you prior to your purchasing...I do feel your pain.regardless as for more BS large buildings and condos in CV??? We dont want or need any more.I have watched this poor valley decline over the past 40 years..resorts,golf courses, mansions etc,"little Napa"...time to stop...before it is like any other 'burb....Our roads are a disaster, traffic congested and there is NO extra water...have just had it!!

Military Mom, you can thank LANDWATCH for these horrible restrictions. They always threaten LAWSUIT....Stop growth, no water, more taffic.. Save the frogs etc... So the little guys always get thrown in the NO GROWTH agenda..If they let you get away with not complying, how can they hold the BIG developers to the same standard? Sorry to hear your story.
TIRED OF LANDWATCH Crap

I am tired of the DEVELOPMENT in Carmel Valley! Its a a disgrace.I have been in the same home 49 years and have had to watch this gorgeous place erode....watch the traffic pile up~this road is not able to hold more...and I am tired of MY water rates going up and up~used to use our own well until Cal Am started sucking the water up....I am ALL FOR Landwatch..CV would be another Seaside with out it!

I completely agree Carmel Valley does not need anymore development, and yes Carmel Valley Rd is crowded enough. But I am in Prunedale and the road from the freeway is mine. What your going to claim increase traffic and charge me a fee for my children that are going to visit regardless, please. I understand there reasoning of rules but it's a bit different when someone is trying to legalize the alteration of the interior of the 2nd floor of an already approved 2 story building, and a developer that wants to build hundreds of condos. This General Plan has been in the works for 11 years, if they were this close to implementing it they knew it, why say NOTHING when I handed over $10K and then call me 3 weeks later to schedule an appointment to tell me well we can only return $4600 and you get to start all over. That's BS !!!! I am not a developer I am a mother of 6 children 5 of which are adults and they come home to visit tis why we purchased this property. When we met with the County prior to purchasing this property they told us this was not going to be an issue it was basicly just a paperwork and $ thing. Draw the plans pay the permit fees we will come out and look and as long as it's up to code it will be an easy process. We took them photos they had a code enforcement office out, it was suppose to be easy. Again BS!! Rules and Codes are fine but grouping private citizens and developers together is not.
