Yeah, they finally will soon have to start paying for the free services they have been getting(roads, fire, police).

Face it, annexation battles are RARELY won by those who oppose annexation. The reason for that is that the law (and public policy) favors development and growth. Even if they do win, the city can try again after a couple of years.

In any event, welcome to Carmel!

Homeplace is "mainly blue-collar"? I know its not Carmel's most high end neighborhood, but I dont' know if blue-collar would be the right description here.

The services they've been getting are county services, not city services. What's next, Brainard, Indianapolis? It's a sad day when people who don't want to join another town can get forced into it. Well, I guess somebody had to pay for Branaird's grandiose ideas since he can't. The sad thing is, everything he'll do will be in Carmel proper. The folks in Homeplace won't see any of it. They just get to pay for it. Yeah, Welcome to Carmel!

Geist...someone's knocking at your door and they call themselves...Fishers.

Fishers has been modeling their latest efforts off what Carmel was doing.

Thinking this East/West Geist just might not happen now.

That Jaws Theme you hear is the Annexation Shark swimming in Geist. Geist it looks like your next. The GUO claims this Carmel case has nothing to do with their case, but you cannot tell me that this climate of annexation and the associate rulings do not impact others. The Fishers/Geist situation is about to heat up, and this ruling only makes it hotter.

Actually, the majority who took the time to voice their vote did want it. If they didn't want it, they would have succeeded in the remonstrance.

I think Indianapolis should annex Carmel next! What a great way to get Carmel taxes revenue! Whos' with me on that? We can fix IPS finally with all that money! While we're at it, let's just annex Fishers also. Think of all the money that will bring in, as they'll have their Geist residents annexed by that point. But why stop there? Indy should go ahead and annex greenwood and we'll just be one great big giant city! IPS will have ooodles of money then. I bet Marion county tax rates would PLUMMET!

Gosh, I hope we never get annexed by Chicago, and I hope Chicago never gets annexed by New York, and I hope the US never gets annexed by CHINA, and I hope that the Earth never gets annexed by Venus, and then we all get annexed by the sun, then we all get annexed by another galaxy! Think of the tax revenue on that deal!

Wow, what an uninformed statement. This "sad" day has been played out hundreds of times all over Indiana in just the past decade - probably in Noblesville as well.

The folks in Home Place will see plenty of benefits for thier tax dollars.

How is the annexation of a "blue-collar" are going to fund projects in Carmel? If anything, it will be a drain on the city resources in the short term. You seem to confuse the statement that the annexation will fund the services delivered to Home Place with funding all of Carmel.

In any event, the people of Home Place are very lucky people even if many don't realize it yet.

Let the appeal procss begin!! It doesn't look good for the citizens of Home Place though.
I'm curiious as to whether the Indiana State Supreme Court will even hear the case since they have already ruled on a similiar case just a few months ago.

Hmm - Annexing Indy.....I can think of worse things to happen to our fair town. It gets King Bart Peterson out of there too.

Yeah, people who are taken over by dint of law are always so ungrateful...

Look at the native americans.
