There is absolutely no proof that this is the case. It is the equivalent of saying "I know you are, but what am I?". It is something you say when there is nothing else for you to say.

Seriously, this sounds as ignorant as the argument in the 80's.... Anyone remember if you are in a room with someone with aids you will catch it?
It's not like "Gay/ Lesbian" people are out recruiting at the boyscouts. My God you people are ignorant. Funny thing is I'm sure by your views you probably have people very close to you that are gay.
As a widowed mother and I'm 37 I can honestly say if my son were to choose to be gay that's his choice. I know my chances of having other children are long gone but my love for my son is much stronger than who he was to fall in love with.
Btw just so you know they say those who speak out so harshly about it are only hiding something about themselves.
From your comments I deduce that either you didn't read my posts or that you can't comprehend them. Don't criticize that which you obviously do not understand. I personally find the GLBT lifestyle to be immoral and unnatural, but that does not mean that I dislike people because of that. I honestly feel sorry for them. No one has to like my opinion, but it is what it is. My brother died and yes, his lifestyle, in my opinion, was the reason. I don't desire to lose my son the same way, or anyway, but that will be his choice. When he is old enough to make that choice. Before then, I won't advocate the introduction. I also will strive to prevent him from drinking until he is of age to choose to do so.

Actually, there is scientific evidence to support the notion that the more negative the reaction to subject of homosexuality and people who are homosexual, the greater the likelihood that they might be screaming at us from the closet. A study done at the University of Georgia took groups of men who had such intense homophobic feelings and groups of men who had no such problems and hooked them up to a scientific instrument designed to measure a certain sexual response and had the participants view all male porn. Surprisingly enough, the more negative the reaction to homosexuality and people who are homosexuals going into the study, the more positive the reaction of a certain part of their anatomy to the male porn. Besides, we've all seen it so many times before where somebody with a long history of anti-gay views comes flying out of the closet, usually against their will. Anybody remember Ted Haggard?

I agreed with everything you said except for your verbiage. People who are gay did not choose to be gay...they were born gay and have no control over that.

Okay. If that makes everyone feel better, so be it. But my son still won't be scouting. Regardless of my issues. I wish to protect him from others with issues.

Hey Ted Haggard wasn't gay, he just had a "wide stance" like that congressman!

So this is used to silence critics,or is it really believed? Oh my God if I disagree they will call me gay or at least happy. Who cares.

It's merely an interesting factoid, make of it what you will. Personally, I'd rather most homophobes be asexual. That way neither sex has to worry about them hitting on them.

With the opinion of being born gay, why can't other lifestyles? Even those who are attracted to children? One is attracted to the same sex while others are attracted to younger person.

Why is it when someone states something negative about the gay lifestyle, the crusaders charge in and imply that there's something wrong with them? The reality being that there is definately something wrong with the gay lifestyle. The truth does hurt, but that doesn't make it less truthful. Too funny.

So are child molesters born that way? Are men who like to screw sheep born that way? No, just sick individuals who give in the their obsessions. Same as gay people. Personally I do not like the term "gay". It's too nice of a word for men who like a bal sack to the nose.

This attitude is probably why you are a "rent a cop" and not a law enforcement professional as you have neither the aptitude nor the strength of character.

It's nice to see that you're still walking the straight and narrow. I'm glad you haven't given in to your obsession of cornholing men, children, and farm animals

@ballyhoo I can comprehend just fine ;-) as for yours I'm afraid your sadly mistaken. The more you try to not show your child the world the more they will want to see it. Common sense! If you are scared they will turn out like your brother you should instead of hiding it talk about it and run to the nearest counselor available to you. If not for you for the sake of your children.
Lord knows even the Amish don't even react the way you do, considering your on a computer my guess is your not.

I'm appreciative to all of you that helped move me to research and discuss my concerns. Last evening I did exactly that. After in depth discussions with some other folks, some undisputedly more informed and current, and gay, than I. I've concluded that my son will not participate in the BSA. Not to imply that he has yet to express an interest, I'm comfortable now in knowing that many of my concerns are not without rational, measurable validity. A colleague disclosed that he was introduced to gay acts at an early age by an older family member. Not to concede that that alone "made" him gay, but acknowledging that he was taught something that he did not previously know. That's enough in itself for me. Others shared similar concerns. Thanks folks. I don't wish to shelter my son, but I do desire to manage what he is taught at an early age. When he gets older he will make his own decisions. Until then, I will make them. Good day.

So how did your brother become gay, assuming that you were both raised by the same parents? No one becomes gay by being introduced to some "alternative lifestyle." They are born with a predisposition to be attracted to the same sex and no amount of parenting can change that. But I wish you good luck in raising your children to be happy, healthy individuals.

I agree that people are born with their sexual inclination. Some people require more sex, some are seldom interested, some are hetero, some prefer same sex etc but you can't deny that children are impressionable and tend to follow or imitate someone they admire. There are many people (Gay, Straight or otherwise) who don't have a high sexual morality. Not that I think all Gay people are child predators, those are two different sexual issues.
A lot of the people involved in youth camps tend to be young adults and they may also lack the ability to govern themselves. They may also view young teens as contemporaries. The opportunity for mistakes is just too prevalent.

Being exposed to drug use reinforces the acceptability of it just as exposure to a lack of sexual morality indicates it's ok.
