There are very few service companies, be it auto or home service, that will not stick it in you and break it off, if they have the green light from you to do so.
If you deal with a national chain of either of these types of service companies such as MrQ, DialOne, etc...you can bet the farm that the techs are under duress by management to sell, sell, sell.
They will sell you crap that no ethical salesperson would EVER try to sell to you.
The strategy nowdays is to flood the airwaves, print media, and mailboxes with "coupons" to get as many people to bite. They do not give a rat's ass about repeat business. They just continuously pound out ads to bring in a new set of 1st time suckers, so they can upsell you any trinket they can cook up, by using well-practiced scare tactics.
Just always remember that if there's an undue amount of pressure from them during a sales pitch or service call, they do NOT want you to get another opinion.
Go with the local guy who has been in business for a long time. And definitely DO NOT TRUST WEBSITES THAT HAVE 'REVIEWS'. THESE COMPANIES PAY PEOPLE TO TROLL THESE SITES AND PLACE PHONY REVIEWS THAT ARE FAVORABLE TO THEM.

Wow! It truly amazes me that just because the news media reports a story that people will automatically assume it must be true. I'm so sick of the media railroading businesses and people without realizing or caring what the fallout will be to those individuals and companies. That company is currently being "investigated for these allegations". Does anyone hear those words when a story hits, NO, they automatically assume the worst. I even heard the Fox59 newscaster say his whole speil and at the end quietly added the word "allegedly". I'm a small business owner myself and whether it's true or not that company now faces a huge loss of business and most likely many employees will lose their jobs. Times are tough enough for everyone, I just hate to see hardworking folks get crucified in the media and then have individuals, who've never even done business with them, bad mouth them without having any facts or experience to back it up.

I have the facts and I was one of the customers cheated out of $1000.00 +. If you are honest and on the up and up in YOUR business then you shouldn't be on here bad-mouthing honest, hard-working, PAYING customers. I would NEVER use either of these companies AGAIN!

Small businesses cheat people all the time because they think it's their right to make up their money losses somehow. Don't do business with a small business.

There is a big difference between 'cheated out of' and 'did not want to pay for'.

Meh.

You didn't mention in your earlier post that you were cheated out of anything, just that you saw them on the news, the news was calling them cheaters, and you agreed, lumping them in with another company you didn't like. Were you cheated out of something or did you just pay more than you wished you had after the fact?

You are a dumbass. I didn't have a junk furnace fixed, moron. I had a brand new furnace placed in my house that was supposed to be a Bryant, but when it needed a repair done, the HVAC tech realized I didn't have a Bryant furnace at all. It was a much cheaper brand. Yes, I was CHEATED out of more than $1000.00 +.

I did and I turned him into the Attorney General's office. Hopefully their letter to him scared him enough to be honest from here on out. But who knows, some people are all about the all-mighty dollar.

First of all Mr Quick isn't small business. It though could be part of a franchise of Mr Quick's around the country. The Ceo OF Mr Quick and other various companies was on one of the episodes of undercover bosses . Believe me she will punish whomever is deceptive and making her fathers business's have a bad name.As far as Mr Quick being deceptive. It's quite possible when they told tho9se people their homes might catch on fire, They weren't lying . Especially if they were older homes that still have knob and tube wiring .I almost went with MR quick , Then I went with Frye electric . I though Mr Quick's was too high also. I went with Frye electric, They were in and out in no time and did a very good job and their cost was much lower than Mr Quick .Give Mr Quick a try. You will love their work , No I don't work for Frye electric. I was blown away on how fast they were able to change out a whole fuse box.The Frye guy who gave the estimate gave me one within 3 seconds of looking at the fuse box. Now that's honesty and integrity in my book.

Like this we heard of a few people that felt they were getting lied to and ripped off. We don't know what quotes were given to those people and how much work they needed done. I won't outright accuse Mr Quick of being deceptive. Some jobs are tougher and involve more work and higher price.Yes like any business those techs are sent out to sell, sell, sell. and get the highest amount they can from each job. In this O'bummer Obama bumbling O'zombie economy, I', not surprised more companies don't try and get more money for work they do. Guess what their paychecks are going to be much smaller thanks to the recent fiscal cliff deal that once again was full of pork for Obama's buddies. and lots more taxes for the working poor middle class. with holding taxes back up to 6.2% enjoy less as you work harder to please Obama , Guess what Obama's vacation is up to $20 million now in Hawaii , How's that for socking it to the taxpayers.
