2 die in Carmel roundabout crash

Two men were killed early this morning after their car crashed into a concrete wall in the center of a roundabout in Carmel.

So now Carmel will put more roundabouts in because they just don't see the value in revamping 431. Nice to see what the value of human life is.

I am sure speed, alcohol or drugs will be a factor in this. How else could someone possibly die in a roundabout crash?

Those roundabouts are good examples of awful street planning. I can't believe the state is going to let those idiots put them in on Keystone. Once they get ahold of Meridian, it will be impossible to get anywhere north of the county line.

Wait for it, "I knew those roundabouts where dangerous" comments to follow.
Early morning, speed and most likely not paying attention have nothing to do with it; it's a dangerous thing a roundabout. Lord knows how drivers in England and the rest of Europe cope.
I personally prefer to waste 10 mins at every stop sign, three mins at some traffic lights rather than just keep moving. If the DOT had any balls they would engineer in more roundabouts. Oh and for the dummies amongst us, please note the sarcasm.

Read Bigtone's comment just before yours. Nothing worse than these awful 4way stops where the tool in front of ya waves a couple of cars on, completely forgetting about those behind him/her. Or the mistimed traffic light that changes just as you get there, only to remain red through that 2 minute cycle while not a car goes approaches the green.
Yeah, these roundabouts, oh my, they breed killer crashes!

I was just in that area recently and they are putting in a roundabout there, separating Nora from Carmel, meaning it was incomplete so one could not go all the way around it, thus possibly being the cause of this wreck. I remember not realizing it was incomplete until I got right on it. Perhaps bad markings/warnings? And of course, there are bars along 96th Street, and there was a Colts win yesterday, so...possibly drinking involved, which makes a roundabout even harder to...round.

Let do away with hwy 37 from Fishers to Noblesville. Several teens have died on that strech recently from running off the road in a single car accident. I see the crosses every time I go that way.

accident happened at 3:00AM... yeah the roundabout was to blame. The roundabouts are a great idea, however I'm waiting to see how the idiot drivers handle them in winter.

...uh, actually, without the roundabout this numbskull driver probably would have flown through a 4-way stop and killed someone. Brainard is a hero for putting concrete in front of his citizens.

Yes! They are safer than a stoplight. If you try to drive straight through a roundabout, you run into a wall and kill yourself. If you run a red light, you kill people in other cars too.
