Unethical practices gives honest attorneys a bad name.

Debt collection attorneys are trolling courts that will find in their favor. The office manager of Decatur is quotes as saying, "out of 100 cases only 3 appeared." This is because of lack of public transportation to Decatur Small Claims. The attorneys know this. Also, the office manager is quoted in saying, ""We certainly have our loyal attorneys," said Ms. Ricker. The court provides lawyers with coffee in a break room and a fax machine for their clerical needs."

Who is paying for the coffee and fax supplies? Tax payers? That money comes from some place.

Forum shopping isn't the only problem in the Small Claims Courts of Indianapolis. Corporations, and particularly insurance companies, that are sued by individuals in the small claims courts have a new trick to avoid having the case heard. They ask for a trial by jury. This forces the small claims court judge to transfer the case to a more formal court called civil plenary, where you need a lawyer. They know you won't spend $5,000 to hire a lawyer to take on a jury trial case when all you wanted was the few thousand the defendant owed you, so you let the case be dismissed. Its a huge, fraudulent giveaway to the insurance companies, who now go scott free. It used to be that if you had a complaint against a business for less than $6000 you could sue in small claims court and win if you had a good case. Now that's not true anymore. Because the corporations and insurance companies are requesting jury trials and having these cases transfered out of small claims court in almost every instance. And you get zilch. You don't even get to be heard. And you're out your $91 small claims court filing fee. There is no justice for the average citizen in Indianapolis. Now that access to the Courts has been effectively defeated, you're screwed if you have a legitimate beef. They know how to blow you off. So you get these big corporations, they hire Carmel lawyers from Hamilton County to come down here and get the case transfered, and they just laught at you. And the administrators of the Marion County Courts are so toothless, they just let these lawyers walk right over us. Its pitiful. And we don't have a voice in the city county council or the general assembly to protect us. I'll bet you didn't know that you have little recourse in the small claims courts anymore. And when the case is transfered, they send you a nasty little letter from the court telling you that formal methods of pleading are required and that you better get a lawyer if you want to proceed, and telling you to completely replead your case. Thousands of dollars of legal work. Its a scam, that's for sure. The legal system around here is just going to the dogs.

People can't continue to get screwed over by dishonest attorneys and judges that twist the truth and flat out lie.
This needs serious action. This is happening to your neighbors, your aunts, your uncles, your mothers and fathers, your children, your co-workers, and next will be you.

Legal disputes can be very frustrating for consumers. The cost of hiring a lawyer is often greater than the amount in dispute, making a lawsuit unreasonable from a monetary standpoint. What, then, are consumers to do when they feel they have been wronged? The Small Claims Court is one place that minor legal disputes can often be resolved with relatively little time and expense. The tactic of using the demand for jury trial to stall or make more expensive administration of justice is common in both civil and criminal courts across the States, but many jurisdictions, like Baltimore, act to decrease the effectiveness. Baltimore Courts will docket that jury trial for commencement the same day on the afternoon calendar and you'll have to post fees to get it transferred there. Other States have seriously limited the ability to ruin a plaintiff's legitimate case by making it financially impossible to prove up. Indiana simply favors insurance companies and corporations above its citizens. Its true, and they won't change it. Carmel lawyers will always be able to waltz in and get their corporate clients off the hook with a wink. That's how it works in this State.

Good reason not to stay in Indiana!!
If the people we elect aren't working for the people, then what's the point. There is none obviously voting them out doesn't work because the next shark in line has the same bag of dirty tricks.

Instead of forward moving, they are reverting to backwards.
It's really a shame that Indiana Attorneys are so dirty.
Honest people don't have a chance. I don't think there are any honest attorneys left.

What is an honest family to do? We're caught in a catch 22 and the attorneys and judges are cashing in on it. If you're wronged you might as well write it off as a loss, you might as well not argue your case in court unless your just out to prove to yourself how dirty they are. It doesn't matter to their peers or complaint boards, they have their own skeletons.

No accountability makes for a dangerous place to be and the most dangerous place to be in Indiana is a court room.

Another way for the higher class to keep taking our money and debt collectors have entitlement syndrome. Using tax payer money doesn't surprise any of us. They use tax payer money for all sorts of things they shouldn't. Coffee, fax paper, fax machines, christmas parties, etc.
What the world needs is a modern day Robin Hood.
Take back what belongs to the people that has never belonged to the greedy that took it.

Add it to long Ridiculous List of the unnecessary elements we as tax payers have to pay for. We're making the rich richer. They could at least say thank you.
