The year was 1947 or 1948. Johnny Nucero's parents lived next to my family's house and he started giving dance lessons. My older brother, Tom, was taking piano lessons and my parents decided I would take tap dance lessons. The "studio" was located in the Clark's Thread factory on Central Ave. My first and last recital had me dancing to "Cruising down the river (on a Sunday afternoon". I would not have made it on American Idol, but I did pick up "the beat" and was able to pick up on the dances that came later; polkas, tango's, waltzes, mambos etc.

Thanks John.
