I'm a 23 year old art, music, outdoors, and recreation fan. I currently live in Kansas City, Missouri and want to get out of this town. We've been looking at Port Angeles and want to hear from you good and bad about this city. Please help us decide if it's the right place for us. We're curious and lacking personal stories from the town. Thanks!

I moved to Port Angeles about 20 years ago from California, I love it here. I am a mother of four children, I can't see myself living elswhere or raising my kids in a large city. There is always something to do here, Port Angeles itself always has community events and is a very friendly place. In the summer we often go camping, hiking, swimming at the local lakes, and fishing. During the winter we can go skiing, snow boarding, and hiking in the snow. If you are an outdoor person the options are limitless, everything is in your backyard. The store options are a bit skimpy, but Silverdale in only about 90 minutes away.

Portwood, glad you're coming. I totally concur with my neighbors and what they said. It's a wonderful place to live for a thousand reasons. When you get here, give me a shout. You can always find me, because I'm the editor of Sequim-News.com , an online newspaper for both Sequim and Port Angeles. Chuck Marunde

Don't do it! I have lived all over the country and moved up here almost 2 years ago. This town is full of nothing but grumpy old people and white trash. See for yourself. There is nothing to do but hike and camp and buy stuff at Wallmart. Oh the weather sucks too.

I love Port Angeles. It's an amazing place to live. Just one of the things I enjoy, among many, is jogging and hiking in the Olympic National Park. What a gorgeous piece of nature! Every time I hike in the park I marvel at how pristine and beautiful it is. Just my thoughts. By the way, Joe, I don't know you, and I'm sure you're a good guy, but honestly, if you hate it so much here, why do you still live here? I'm totally sincere here, not trying to be critical. Have you considered Montana or Alaska?

Great choice! if your into Hiking, since we are located basically in Olympic National Park, there's plenty of pristine wilderness to explore.
I don't know what Joe was talking about, most people who dislike it here are lazy. I'm 20 years old and i never run out of things to do. if u want to surf u can surf 5 min. out of town, plenty of fishing and camping, skiing, snowboarding, and snowshoeing at hurricane ridge. I recently took up rock climbing. Take a trip out to lake Sutherland or Crescent on a warm day, or hike up to our natural hot springs. bottom line its an amazing place. and u wont be sorry ;)

Excellent summary by Jeff. There's no doubt this is an incredible place to live. All you have to do is ask, "Why is it that retirees, like retired CEOs, Microsoft employees, authors, inventors, and even rocket scientists, as well as young active athletes, are all moving to the Sequim and Port Angeles areas?" Could it be they know something the rest don't know?

Joe we are a highly mobile society, why are you still here? Oh I know, you love it here and are trying to keep others from moving here and thats why you trashed P.A. The major downside of P.A. is the job market and the small town minds.

There is a say'n around here.....its "They may leave but they aways come back." My grandfather saw this place when he was being shipped out to fight in WWII. It took him 26 years but he came back. I'm glad he did. There is no place like it! Oh and to the worldly wise Joe ..Is your last name DIRT by any chance? Dude, heres a thought...move back "down" there.
Signed,
White trash grandchild of a grumpy old man.... Now, wheres my list for Wal-Mart ????

I have lived in PA for just over a year after living my entire life in another state. You absolutely cannot beat the scenery and outdoor activities. Work is hard to find but in this economy that is true everywhere. Have a job with a commitment IN WRITING before you move or bring lots of cash. One thing ..I grew up in a small town and I had almost forgotten how cliquish, gossipy and small-minded people are in small towns..I was quickly reminded. That said, I have also met some genuinely nice ppl.

Well. It does have super awesome views and te camping hiking surfing outdoor stuff is great, but it can't outweigh the negatives

Ridiculous problems with meth heroine and synthetic opiates, low value placed on education inbred white folks on welfare who have never been anywhere.

Great place to visit. Sucks to live here. The people are trash.

Lucky for me we are out in June. See what urban dictionary says ad good luck
