PFLAG gathering honors 'Stone Wall'

Members of the Carlsbad chapter of PFLAG met Saturday for an afternoon picnic near the Pecos River.

Stonewall is one word. And it's the 40th Anniversary. It happened on June 28, 1969 at the Stonewall Inn. The bar was raided. Gays were arrested and harassed by the police on a regular basis at Stonewall. On this day the gays fought back and started a riot.

Don't hide or be ashamed of our history. We had to fight to defend ourselves.

This was supposed to be a peaceful gathering of PFLAG for family and friends. Instead what we see is a POLITICAL RALLY for gay rights.
Either PFLAG is about the support of family and friends of gay persons, or it's support wing for the gay rights movement.
And considering this story, I'd say it's the latter...

Sorry, people don't have to choose between your TWO designated choices. Another way of looking at the picnic is that a gay and lesbian support organization met to commemorate the first known occasion when gays stood up and fought for their rights.
PFLAG should support gay rights. God knows they've been stomped down, beaten up, kicked and left dying on a fencepost. You make "support wing" sound like they are communist subversives.
Please understand they're just people--just like you--just like me. Why not just live and let live?

THAT was my entire reasoning for wanting to see this letter.. and now.. you say they didnt even sign their names.. whoa.. oh well.. no need to view it.. i was interested in who they were and what they had to say.. but i was certain they 'had' signed off on their letter in reference to this topic..
oh well.. too bad..so sad..

you go, carlsbad! yes, pflag does get involved in politics. we are there for support, education and advocacy. and jitney, the american medical association, the american psychological association and the american psychiatric association all declared some years ago that homosexuality is NOT a disorder.

If god doesn't make mistakes, then they are intended to be as they are. If it's a "condition" that occurred during development, then who are we to make judgement? We would have to blame everyone for cancer, diabetes, liking strawberry shortcake instead of brownies, etc.

If this is a bible issue, then please read it all, not just convenient parts used to promote hatred. If God is about love...then prove it!!

And "Reverend Brian" at Epworth Methodist just told me that he was not speaking for his congregation. What a back-door way to get out of the culpability.
