I would also like for a new board to be appointed. Get people from our community to step in that actually care about our children and that can clean up this mess. Get us a board made up of leaders from local businesses and parents to help us get through this. Between this and the Mayor's issues, we look terrible.
Kelli does not have a lack of morals, quite opposite actually. Also, she is TOTALLY about the kids and their education. Keep your personal rants for conversations with your buds. You clearly have a negative perception, but you couldnt be more wrong. Shut up and open your eyes.

Why has the School Board not suspended Mr. Perkowski? Maybe because they were going on lavish trips with him and letting Gary pay for it with the school credit card. Another black eye for Carlsbad. We deserve honest government. Gary is one of the last of the good old boys who ran Carlsbad forever. It needs to change. Maybe we need a recall election for the board if they continue to back him. There will be 100 letters to the editor saying what a great guy Gary is, yea and he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Fire him.
Ignorant post. Keep up the good work

Yes, it is wrong. Domestic violence is NEVER acceptable. You are sending a bad message. And, for an educator to be behaving this way, that is unacceptable.
Soooo.... Youre a saint that would have reacted differently? And pushing isnt violence, its an attention getter. You are a liar and a fool. Go be fake somewhere else.

If you want a new board you have to get out and vote. School board members are elected, not appointed. Honestly, if you spotlight anyone, you can make them look bad. I think our local newspaper is buddies with the Wheelers, otherwise nothing would be in the paper. They apparently only report gossip not news! Like when there was an attempted murder at NMSU a couple of years ago, followed by a drug bust a couple of days later! I would have loved to have seen that all over the paper, that is real news! Instead we get gossip! A married couple have a fight, so what! Not my concern any more than the fact the Wheelers got divorced back in 2010!

It would only be gossip, BESIDES the cops were called, reports were filed, children were in the home....that now makes it public business!!! Why would anyone defend this kind of behavior from a superiendent for the schools? And, some of what is being said may be gossip, but regardless, this is a bad deal for our community & children. Why don't they go away, leave themselves & our town with a shread of respect. Personally, I hope they are all fired, from Gary, Kelli, Laquita, & that pathic board, that will send a message that we mean business & expect better behavior in our school system.

Getting a divorce is not a crime. Assaulting someone, inebriated, with children present, that is a crime, ESPECIALLY as a superiendent of education. Bad comparison.

it appears the solution is for the State of NM to take over the system - the locals are not capable of running a school system

Actually I believe Gary is superintendent not Kelli. It is not against the law to be inebriated. Innocent until proven guilty. Stabbing and drug bust at NMSU is way more important yet neither were headliners in paper. In fact both were neatly swept under the rug. Newspaper lady drinking in public, not that is against the law! Your right divorce is not against the law, but someone was throwing out there about morals and being examples for our children. Living in sin isn't to great of an example. Does Mr. Wheeler not have a domestic against him? Some protection order? This is all dumb. I don't know the Mayor or the superintendent, but I don't think either one deserve tone hung from what I read in paper. Kelli, i have meet her, we are not friends, but well IF she pushed him, I can only imagine the emotions she was feeling seeing her husband kissing someone else. Alcohol or not, that would be hard to deal with. The Wheelers, if what I read is true, they should do jail time. I have meet his sister, knew his father (who must be looking down in shame at his children) again not friends, but if they are blackmailing people and sending around pictures to defame someone then they should have to pay for that. There maybe more to the story, but why print part of the story and leave out the important part? I am just saying, it seems like a bunch of jealous petty bickering!

This is a lie from someone with an ax to grind. Or maybe an ex to grind. In either case I can say without a doubt that this idiot is lying.

I would like to know what LaQuita Wheeler has on Perkowski that allowed her to keep her job. She has continually abused her position as an administrator. Children are NOT her top priority. Heck she didn't even raise all her own kids, she let them with their Dad. Must have cut into her time for all the extra marital activity she was involved in. So while she's playing kissy face with Ted Cordova, once again the school district is given the shaft while they abuse their positions and forget we're ALL suppose to be here for our children and be role models.

Time to clean house. Perkowski should step down and Wheeler and Cordova should be terminated.

If Perkowski wants to lobby, then let him continue to do so. He's quite good at it. Don't pay him a full wage for part time participation.

Grammar Lady, if you have a strong need to edit everyone's comments volunteer your time at a local school. They'd probably appreciate your help.

I heard the settlement LaQuita Wheeler received from the Carlsbad district was $500,000 cash and she gets to keep her high dollar position. I'm pretty sure this information came from Ted Cordova. This is an exorbitant amount of money to pay someone so the district can protect Kelli Barta's reputation. Gary's mishandling of another personnel issues has left the gate wide open for Ted Cordova to step through and ask for his large settlement from taxpayers funds. Afterall, Mr. Cordova and Mrs. Wheeler used the same attorney from Roswell.

Wheeler has never filed suit. Freedom of information act will tell you that is not true! Come on, common sense says all of this is in the paper because Wheeler has buddies there. Wheeler is obviously jealous that she is not good enough to get Kelli's job. The paper doesn't print real stories! Just fake gossip!

Listen dumb butt this isn't about LaQuita and some supposed buddy system with the newspaper. This is about Percowski's poor management skills and what it has cost the district because of it. LaQuita doesn't NEED Kelli's job because she has $500,000 cash and her job which probably pays as much as Kelli Barta's job. Anyone who would defend Kelli Barta and her antics is not smart enough to look at the whole picture. Kelli's actions speak for themself!

You are absolutely Kelli does have morals--bad ones. Since when does becoming sh## face drunk (often, very often), having the police, on more than one occasion, come to your house to answer a domestic disturbance call, cheat on your spouse (several times), lying, not constitute a lack of morals. P-L-E-A-S-E another Kelli clone! Just what the world needs.
