While gas prices are up all over, I wonder if the Ruidoso stations use the same percentage of mark up used in other areas. It would help our economy and possible with the tourist season to keep gas prices down as low as possible.

Yes, but that might mean the oil companies will only have a billion dollar profit this year instead of two billion.

Exxon Mobile ended 2012 with its highest profit level ever, 18 billion dollars just for 2012. That is just one company.

Having said this, I could not believe that the Shell Stations went up 28 cents a gallon OVERNIGHT. Been alive for 62 years. I have never seen such a price increase for any product at any time in my life. Amazing. We just need to all use as little gas as possible to live and shop around before buying gas. Go on line to find the cheapest in town and buy the cheapest. Individually, we amount to a drop of water in a large sea...collectively however, we can try to reduce our consumption and perhaps keep gas prices from increasing any more this summer. I am retired an on a fixed income with one small car. This is very painful.

It seems to me that everytime things begin to pick up a little, the oil co`s come in and strangle the recovery.

The reasons for higher pricing being bantered around include: it's summer and we have to adjust the formula... the refineries are down for maintenance...bla bla bla.
Shame on the Department of Energy for making it so hard to permit and build some more refineries. Shame on the oil companies for gouging the trapped consumer. The earth makes its own oil, it is abiotic and didn't come from dinosaurs and stuff that died millions of years ago. The earth will not run out of oil for thousands of years. By then everything will be electric.

I remember that Nixon capped the price of gas at one time. Yes, I remember that there were long lines but at least folks could pay for what they bought. I am not sure about what the down side of fixing the gas price is nationally...I suppose that the federal government is required to subsidize the gas when the price is capped. But I believe that the president can exercise his emergency powers to make it happen if it gets bad enough. If it is approaching $4 now and it is over $5 on the west coast now, I cannot wait until July. I suspect folks will be crying for some type of relief by that time...a bastard from Wall Street was on the news tonight predicting $7 by mid summer this year, and gloating about it. Prices are driven by this greed...it is all speculation, nothing more.

Bought gas at USA gas and Phillips yesterday in Alamo for $3.19, only .44 per gallon cheaper than this little corrupt city. Savings of over $13 on one tank of gas. As the oil man has stated, the price of oil is falling as is the price of gas everywhere except for Ruidoso. Fight back, fight back, fight back! Ever since the greedy gas staions in Ruidoso displayed this sign, I have been fighting back by shopping in Alamo.

We go to Alamo nearly every week. We always fill the gas tank and buy what we need at Wally. Can't fix the gas crooks at Ruidoso. Just buy in Alamo...

Thanks for the tip. We are going to Alamo today to see a movie that probably will not get to the Ruidoso Theater until after it is taken out of red box. Will go on empty and come back full.

Let em soar. I got plenty of Shell Royal Dutch stock to help me at the pump. Plus one of my vehicles is a German engineered Mexican made turbo gas, 20 valve, 1.8 liter and it'll get 30 in town and 36 when I'm burning the asphalt. For those of you who think gas is just gas, you'll find out in maintenance costs, and fuel mileage. I burn the highest octane the Shell stations offer. If I could buy 100 octane like I use in my plane I would. The longer gas sits it loses its octane level. But go ahead we need those 7-11s selling gas. They might be the only businesses left besides Super Wmart here in this God forsaken village... OH and the ractrack.
