My two questions are why is it that a man can kill can go to prison for murder but not for lying as the law doesn't make the ten commandments equal as it is in God's eyes and my second question is in the bible God didn't go against brother and sister to marry or niece and nephew to marry as their were no mutated genes until the humans spread and genes became diverse due to going beyond incest ways, so does this mean the human race is backwards?

The Christians are always saying that marriage is between a man and a woman. Well, the Biblical concept of marriage is polygamy. Marriage between a man and several women.
The Biblical Abraham and Sara were half brother and sister...same father.
I take the Bible with a grain of salt. I believe in God and pray every day, but I also know that God created me as I am and that God loves me. It's best to just live and let live, and let God sort it all out.

Your first mistake is trying to make sense out of a book of fairy tales written by a bunch of ignorant men hundreds of years ago who believed the Earth was flat and the center of the universe.

Yes, you see... you are saying there were no mutations before then, just because the bible said that this guy did his sister, and their kids turned into great rulers, and this other guy slept with his daughters (ok, they got him drunk and slept with him), and their kids were great too... and, hey, this other guy married his daughter off to his nephew, and WOW! Their kids are great too! BLESSED BY GOD THE LOT OF THEM!
Well, for that matter god even blessed a guy who not once, but twice, lied and said his wife was his sister so she could sleep with the ruler of the land (she was hot), so they could then take with them riches of the land.
So- yeah, the bible was from a different time.. just a bunch of fables. Supposed to mean "be nice, and give of yourself to those less fortunate" and now apparently it has someone asking if they can sleep with their brother/sister and it be ok with god. cause you know, its all over the bible. how could it be wrong?

Did you really just ask if mutations are because we DONT sleep with our siblings?? Really? SERIOUSLY??
THIS IS WHY I HATE THE DAMN BIBLE! People use it to justify everything from murder to incest... child abuse, molestation, at some point some one has used to bible to justify everything. it wasnt written by god, people... it was written by twisted ass people way back in the day. weve moved past it and need to realize what it is. a book of rules to get people to stop murdering, raping, and pillaging... unless they wanted to burn in hell fire eternally.

also asking why the law doesn't make the 10 commandments equal is ridiculous. ever heard of separation of church and state? they are decent rules, but they sure arent equal.

These dumb ass Christians literally believe in hell as a place of fire and brimstone or at least they claim that they do! lol A Christian will go to church on Sunday, pray and read the bible. On Monday that same Christian will stab you in the back! I will never trust a Christian!

I think the person asked as a question because of what the bible said. I am a Christian and I do not justify murder, incest, or whatever else as it is sickening. In the bible it just says that the people are to follow the law of the land. In god's eyes, the 10 commandments are equal as to what I was told, however, I dont believe they are. It is a known fact we came from incest as Eve came from Adam's rib and they had offspring which means they were kin. I know I have read the bible and I do get confused from it.

known fact? lol... adam and eve are as real as the easter bunny.
and i didnt say every christian justifies their misdeeds and their discusting acts with the bible, but there are nut jobs that do. same with any religion. its not a "normal" "everyday" muslim who suicide bombs, but it happens, and they are praised because it was ala's will.
i shudder to think why this person asked.

also if you believe in the bible you shouldnt believe in punishment on earth, because "its not our place to judge" and their punishment will come in due time.

That is your belief concerning Adam and Eve as you are not a Christian, but an Atheist.

The bible states an eye for an eye. Every person must judge to a certain point in order to have morals. God says to not judge as in nit picking at someone over things that do not matter in order to anger someone, there is a difference. I also believe those who do not believe in god and shun him will burn in hell. Have a nice day ma'am or sir as one day you will wish you believed in god when we are called for the tree of life or the lake of fire.

You seem to know what God says, so answer this: where did the wives of the sons of Adam and Eve come from? Why did God have to mark Adam's son so that he wouldn't be murdered by those he encountered, who were "those" people? There must have been people here before Adam and Eve!

I think you will find your answers here. Come to read, the more I read, the more I can see about the questions of whomever made this thread pertaining to the second question. Perhaps the person will see this and read as well.

Ma'am or sir, here is this area of the content
Cain and the Land of Nod

Some claim that the passage in Genesis 4:16-17 means that Cain went to the land of Nod and found a wife. Thus, they can conclude there must have been another race of people on the earth, who were not descendants of Adam, who produced Cain's wife.

“And Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bore Enoch: and he built a city, and he called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.”

From what has been stated previously, it is clear that all humans, Cain's wife included, are descendants of Adam. However, this passage does not say that Cain went to the land of Nod and found a wife. John Calvin, commenting on these verses, states:

“From the context we may gather that Cain, before he slew his brother, had married a wife; otherwise Moses would now have related something respecting his marriage.”[13]

Cain was married before he went to the land of Nod. He didn't find a wife there, but “knew”(had sexual relations with) his wife.[14]

Others have argued that because Cain built a “city” in the land of Nod, there must have been a lot of people there. However, the Hebrew word translated as “city” need not mean what we might imagine from the connotations of “city” today. The word meant a “walled town” or a protected encampment.[15] Even a hundred people would be plenty for such a “city.” Nevertheless, there could have been many descendants of Adam on the earth by the time of Abel's death (see below).

Who was Cain fearful of?(Genesis 4:14)

Some claim that there had to be lots of people on earth other than Adam and Eve's descendants, otherwise Cain would not have been fearful of people wanting to slay him for killing Abel.

First of all, in the days before civil government was instituted to punish murderers (Genesis 9:6), someone would want to harm Cain for killing Abel only if they were closely related to Abel! Strangers could hardly have cared. So the people Cain was afraid of could not have been another race of people.

Second, Cain and Abel were born quite some time before Abel's death. Genesis 4:3 states:

“And in the course of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering to the Lord.”

Note the phrase “in the course of time.” We know that Seth was born when Adam was 130 years old (Genesis 5:3), and Eve saw him as a “replacement” for Abel (Genesis 4:25). Therefore, the period from Cain's birth to Abel's death may have been 100 years or more—allowing plenty of time for other children of Adam and Eve to marry and have children and grandchildren. By the time Abel was killed, there could well have been a considerable number of descendants of Adam and Eve, involving several generations.

The second question I was referring to was whomever asked the second question of the start of this thread. The Bible is very interesting and though I do get some confusion from it, I still believe it is our guide to live life the best we can. The bible can help open our hearts and our eyes by giving us strength. My favorite is Rev. Even if I was to die and god said the bible was fake, I would still find it interesting and my fav would be Rev. I am not a holy roller, as I do not attend church like I should but my faith in god will always be there. God Bless you and have a good day.

QUOTE]
I believe firmly in God (a Creator), but I don't believe that the Bible is His word. The Bible was written by man. There's nothing wrong with believing that God created through an evolutionary process. The Bible doesn't state about life on other planets, but the universe is so vast and much older than the earth...there must be other planets with life that evolved like our own which is much older and more civilized than we are here on Earth. I guess what I'm trying to say is give God more credit than what is written by man six thousand years ago, and use your mind and intellect to see God's real glory. God Bless you, as well.
