Yellow Ribbon Ceremony

As many of you my know, the local Engineering unit will be deploying to Afganistan in the next month or so. There is a yellow ribbon ceremony scheduled for the 7th of May. The tentative schedule has the soldiers marching from the Wells Fargo on Fox, and Main, to the Courthouse. They are scheduled to start marching at 1800hrs (6:00 PM). I encourage as much of Carlsbad as possible to come out to show their support for the local troops. I was apart of the last deployment from Carlsbad. The send off was nothing short of amazing. There was hundreds of the people with American flags and signs showing their support for us as our bus drove slowly through town, following our police escorts. I was soo humbled. I was wearing dark sunglasses that day...not only to block the sun from my eyes, but I didnt want anyone to see a soldier with tears in his eyes. That reminded me that the people of Carlsbad really did care about us, and did have a great sense of patriotism. I hope that Carlsbad comes out to give these guys a proper send off...and once again show them that Carlsbad does care, and still has the same patriotism as the last time the local National Guard unit left.
