i fear, historically speaking, it is spurious. this is why i asked for research,(and because I do not remember the occasions referenced in the previous centuries

The cartoon is a basic representation of a few, of the many socialist programs that have been going on in our country for hundreds of years.
Socialism is an economic and political theory based on public ownership or common ownership and cooperative management of allocation of resources, by the community as a whole, in the interests of all people .

Thanks, Zig_Zag. Now joey, was that really so hard? The cartoon addresses an attitude recently expressed by some who strongly oppose "government" healthcare but quickly add that they don't want to lose their Medicare.
