There are 14 comments on the Common Dreams story from Oct 15, 2011, titled Mexico's Newest Export to US May Be Water. In it, Common Dreams reports that:

Western states are looking south of the border for water to fill drinking glasses, flush toilets and sprinkle lawns, as four major U.S. water districts help plan one of two huge desalination plant proposals in Playas de Rosarito, about 15 miles south of San Diego.

I suggest Montana's water runoff that horribly flooded the Missouri River this year, be detoured to the western states.

We need to export the illegal aliens here in the U.S. and tell Mexico to keep their water. The same with L.A. buying power from Mexico when the majority of their users are illegals.
We're punished and taxed to the hilt by the gov't/EPA but no one adresses the huge drain these INVADERS have on our country. Illegal ALIENS need to take their `FOOTPRINT` and go back where they came from !!!
There's more jobs in Mexico than in the U.S. Most Illegals are here for the easy pickins - living off of free gov't handouts - period !!!

That's a debatable point. I am not saying it is wrong, but if the illegal aliens return to where they came from, who will do the work? Since the 60s 70s revolution, the politicians and the expensive taxpayer funded "justice" system have transferred ever more of the modest worth of the productive element to support the fast breeding domestic "and legal" Thug community in idle bliss.

The result has been that the Thug people now even refuse to do the work that their God given, abet marginal, talents qualify them to do. Already farm produce is rotting in the field, while the Thug people continue impregnating Thug mommas so they can increase "their income" by producing more Thug babies. What would you suggest the hard working overburdened tax paying minority do to solve this vexing dilemma?

hey Ronald,
Who do you think did the agjobs before illegals ? It was family farmers who paid a livable wage to legal workers with families to support, many were kids earning their first car, etc. When there was a shortage of workers, farmers could utilize the Bracero program, where supposedly, no roots were to be set down and they were to return home at the end of the season. These illegals don't want to do Agwork - they want 0ur Carpenter, Landscape, Construction, Hospitality Jobs, etc.
End the "jackpot anchor kid scam", the gov't handouts and mandate E-Verify for jobs and welfare programs and most will stop coming here.
The problem is the Feds not Enforcing 0ur Immigration Laws. Despite that, illegals are self-deporting from states with Laws like Arizona and Alabama and coming to CA, FL, Texas, etc. where the welcome mat is laid out by folks like Jerry Brown and Rick Perry.
There's plenty of young Americans on welfare that have never worked a day in their life. Ag-work is a good starting point since the jobs our kids used to do are now occupied by illegal aliens.

You are right. Until the revolutionaries came to power, and then for ideological revolutionary purposes used the full force of Government to conduct the war against ordinary middle *("worker")* class White people, migrant Whites would follow the harvest from the Southern States, up through the Midwest States and up into Canada. They were happy to do so. Because they worked hard, they were well paid.

At the same time, California farm owners were heavily dependent upon Mexican Bracero labor. The Bracero program benefited all concerned, Mexico, the US consumer, farm owners, and seasonal Bracero workers themselves. Then revolutionary ideologues engaged in a massive propaganda effort to end the program using the guise of "improving living conditions" for Bracero workers.

The real reason, of course, was to increase demand for housing, and thereby to cause California property taxes being paid for the aging overpriced California housing stock to soar.

We often hear of "jobs Americans refuse to do". Like all Orwellian Government NEWSPEAK, that glib truism requires some thought in order to determine just what the revolutionaries mean. What they mean is that, as a result of the massive post 60s 70s welfare State the revolutionaries built for themselves in order to remain in power, the Thug people have the RIGHT to refuse to work the fields no matter how much they are paid.

The only solution to this problem is to put an end to the hard earned taxpayer money that is currently being diverted to the Thug people, including the Thug mommas and the Thug grannies, so they will be willing to get off their butts and into the fields.

One point that nobody has raised is why people in the US choose to live in deserts, flood plains, etc. and then whine about the inevitable consequences. You just shouldn't grow a grass lawn where water is in short supply.

Who will do the work? A legal resident that's who. At a higher wage no doubt. And I'm ok with that. I'd gladly pay more for my goods/services. I'd still be saving 95% of what the illegals are taking from me in gov assisted programs.

Your sentiments are well intentioned, but the Thug daddies, the Thug mommas, and the Thug grannies refuse to return to the fields. The reason is that growers cannot possibly compete with all the hard earned taxpayer money the pandering politicians have been transferring to the Thug community. This hard earned taxpayer money enables the Thug community to do nothing other than to produce more Thug babies and to perpetrate violence against the hands that feed them.

No, the job would go on. The work force would not come to a halt due to lack of illegals. Bad argument. That card has been played before time and again.
The one's that your talking about will always milk the system. But, we (Americans) can be just as (more) productive without illegals. Their taking more from us than they are giving back. Now we're on track to start paying their way for college ahead of our own LEGAL children/young adults. Go figure.

They can keep their water. They can keep their corrupt craphole country (and anything that comes out of it) that their so proud of.
We have Taco Bell and Del Taco. That's all we need.

I agree. Ever since the politicians and their expensive taxpayer funded agenda driven judges threw the productive element "under the bus" *(so to speak)* following the 60s 70s revolution, the Thug community has "milked the system" *(as you put it)*.

Already, preliminary efforts to correct the illegal alien problem is resulting in crops rotting in the field. This is the direct result of pandering politicians and corrupt agenda driven judges transferring ever more hard earned taxpayer money to the Thug people. The illegal alien problem can never be solved unless the Thug problem is first addressed.
