Karen Denise Wells missing, Has anyon...

It was a rental car. I'm assuming her prints were the only ones found. It's a fairly major road and although it doesn't get a lot of traffic, her car was sitting abandoned in the middle of the road. Pretty much impossible to miss. I wasn't in the area (or the country for that matter) at the time she disappeared but it's always interested me. Part of it seems like suicide though.

I was working in Carlisle at a hotel down the street at the time of this woman's disappearance, and also lived near New Germantown. It was a strange case. For those not familiar with the area, Carlisle is at the intersection of two major interstates - I-81 and I-76. The area is populated with truck stops, restaurants and gas stations. Carlisle itself is a nice little college town, probably 10-15,000 people or so. This area is a major warehousing hub of the northeast, hence the truck stops. The Pike Motel is small - probably not more than 30 rooms, and is of the budget variety with no amentities such as pool or restaurant. New Germantown is about 35 miles to the northeast in a rural area of Perry County. It is not on the way to New Jersey, which is where this woman was supposedly traveling to. It is not a route that someone from out of the area would end up on, unless they were severely lost. Rt 274 is a 2-lane state road and is paved. It's just a rural area with very little traffic. Most people who live east of New Germantown travel east towards Carlisle and Harrisburg for work. Most people who live west of New Germantown (and into Franklin County) travel west to Chambersburg, Shippensburg or Frederick, MD for work. It's extremely odd that she would end up here. From my recollection, someone traveling to work early in the morning came across the car sitting in the middle of the road with the doors ajar. The car could have been there for several hours before being discovered. The area is heavily wooded, mostly by state forest land. I do remember that there was speculation about the friend in NJ and various voice mail messages that were left. I was always intrigued about this case since I both lived / worked in the area.

ok Ill try again.

heb... ur info clears up more questions about the area. Seems to be a college/tranpo hub.

HyperU2... the info in http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/w/wells_k... doesnt seem to add up to suicide.

Itsme....i havent seen ladybug 33 since her first post. You would think she would have more interest. What can we do to help find this young mother?

hey heb, does anyone know the name of the friend that Karen Denise was to meet? Do you think the friend could have anything to do with it and if so why?

Time to investigate. If anyone has any suggestions to gather more info about the case or the friend, let me know. I will try to search newspapers to find anything more.

The friend's name is Melissa Shepherd (sp?)
I have always thought that something was a little questionable about her.

As far as being family and not knowing details, that is true. Family has been given information and misinformation and frankly it is confusing.

Someone earlier in a post asked what kind of person she is, I am not sure how that applies.
Denise is a woman who loves her son very much.
It is my belief that she would never have left him wilingly!

itsme.. its good that they have reopened the case.

the police cant give all the info out, so it could be confusing.

from what i read she loved being a mother and that was uncharacteristic to leave w/o a word. no one should cast a stone unless they are without sin

I read FOUL PLAY is suspected

someone posted that there was speculation about her friend, I assume is Melissa. I hope she had nothing to do with it because guilt will slowly eat someone up from the inside.

whats Melissa's story or life like?

Mochagirl...I guess you do a lot of reading...I know you do enough for me...any way the french fries that the article you put a link to?
Quote:"There were no signs of a struggle inside the car, he said. Investigators found some french fries in the car along with maps, a pair of shoes and empty soda bottles, he said. Lawmen have checked fast-food restaurants in the area in case Ms. Wells might have stopped in, but they have had no leads, Link said." End quote. My question is this; Does anyone know for sure what restaurant she went to get the fries? If police checked the leads at these places and no one can recognize her (assuming the LE had a picture to show) maybe they missed the person who waited on her due to change of shift or a day off? Was the container for the fires in the car? or near by...It should have said where it came from. I know that this sounds crazy but I was just wondering.

I noticed that you recently moved itsme. okay all jokes aside. you said that family members have been given misinformation and information...I think that if you could share what info you have been given that is factual more people in the Carlisle area could help...there has to be someone out there that knows something and probably is scared to come forward...I can't imagine a little boy growing up without his mother and wondering where she is or what happened to her.

Well, it seems the police have new testing available. Found another article:
http://www.tradingmarkets.com/.site/news/Stoc...

Im sad for all involved, some people innocent of the crime are hiding information and are slowly being eat up from the inside out.

They probably have a good heart, just confused and lost. Speak up, make a plea deal or something. Let go of this huge burden (secret), before they solve the case so the courts go easier.

Denise would be proud that you are still here for her.

I feel sorry for Melissa as well. You know she has to feel horrible about Denise coming to visit then disappear.

What do you think happened to Denise? How can one explain 700 miles more driven? What are your thoughts?
