Karen Denise Wells, age 23, disappeared in April 1994, from Carlisle, Pennsylvania. I read an article on her. Has anyone heard of her?

Could you tell us more? What was the article saying? What were the circumstances?

OK, well they are looking at her case again, as of August 15. Apparently the solving of another case prompted this.

No, I don't know her. I ran across the link (not article)in the above post and thought there has to be more information in Carlisle on this missing mother.

Hyper, thx 4 ur response.

What made it interesting? All the info we have seen is the info link above.

its amazing that so many young people come up missing and there is practically nothing in the news. We hope to start a site for those not in the news.

I changed my name but, I was fascinated by the circumstances of the case. Namely her vehicle being found abandoned in the middle of a desolate road. Plus it's just a local story, so that gets to me. We've just had the second of two very cold cases from this area solved in recent weeks. I hold out hope for this one.

HyperU2. From what I read, which is not much, it does seem strange that a young mother just disappeared from her car.

Never been to Carlisle, is the town in a desolate area? Are the roads paved or dirt country type roads? Mountains or flat? Where the car was found, is it close to a city?

Our town is fairly busy because of the amount of through traffic we get, her car however was found 35 miles from here. It was on a paved road but just at the edge of a large forest.

Don't know if this will work, the car was found on Rt 274 just West of New Germantown, Perry Count PA if you want to Google Map it.

I was able to google map New Germantown and Carlisle. I see Carlisle is on a freeway and somewhat big. I guess I got confused. The link said she was missing from Carlisle but her car was found in New Germantown.

Do you know anything about the Pike motel in Carlisle? Is it an expensive motel? Is it in a good area of town?

Was there any suspects or leads in this case?

Sorry for the questions, for whatever reason, I just felt sorry for this girl and was curious how someone could go missing right out of their car in the middle of the road.

Thxs for your replies. Sometimes you hear about things that dont make sense and you want to understand. Obviously you care about people too.

The Pike motel is tiny, but it's in a safe area. As far as I know, no suspects, no leads.

Yeah I get very curious about these types of cases too.

This is a pretty interesting but perplexing topic...How come this woman... Karen was never placed on missing persons list until just recently? I have questions???

"Quote" Foul play has always been suspected in Wells' case.

If they (LE) suspected foul play, what is the connection between Carlisle and New Germantown? Did I miss something?

I understand that this woman's car was found on a road in New Germantown, I am quoting Mochagirl now:"Do you know anything about the Pike motel in Carlisle?" but what does this motel have to do with Karen's disappearance? I guess I don't know all of the story.

Ladybug: If you are married to this woman's cousin then it seems a bit perplexing to me that you know so little about this case. It would seem that being married to her cousin that you would have first hand knowledge of the particulars of this case that the people here on the forum wouldn not.

I find it odd that you would ask someone who was inquiring about this case them self that you ask them to send you the article. I am in no way accusing you of not being married to her cousin I am stating that for being a family member that you would no 'NOTHING'.

Where did it say in the article that her car was found just at the edge of a large forest? Did I miss something again? I can't just get over the police..you stated in one other post that your city has solved two other cold cases...what is the problem with your police...And I wonder if the clue to this disappearance might be in Oklahoma as it states clearly that this woman was from OK and was going to visit a friend.

I don't think it mentions that her car was found on the edge of a large forest, but I know the area well. The Pike Motel is where she had rented a room.

I know the article didn't mention the large forest and I was wondering how you knew where it was found. Being from Carlisle I guess you would know the area better than most. When the police found the car was there any tracks or finger prints found on the car? did they find any blood or anything to help them track the woman? What kind of car did she drive? You mentioned that the car was found 35 miles from Carlisle, am I correct? Would the area the car was found at be easy to find if one didn't know the area well? In other words is it on a main thoroughfare from Carlisle? Did this woman drive there and left her car or what? I'm wondering if she met up with her friend that the article said she was going to visit? Do you have any other information? This really makes no sense to me at all thus far. Thanks HyperU2
