If "the war on coal" had anything to do with the closing they would not be shipping the jobs off, they would be doing away with the jobs all together. It sounds like they are going somewhere where they can get more bang for their buck. With the wages they pay in Kentucky there are not a lot of places in the states to go to in order to get costs down. When they run out of cheap labor here it is bound to go to other countries. A debtor nation full of people living on extended credit is in trouble, we can't afford to work for less. The other party is concerned that with the sequester, their constituants that make $4Million as a couple won't get as many tax write offs, which means they will have to pay, more than you make a year, extra. Then again, they will still be making $3Million after taxes even with that increase, so I think they will be ok. Blaming Obama for Joy Mining is like blaming the drug deals in the parking lot and the loiterers in the can. It makes you feel better, but it does not change the hard truth.
When was the last time you saw a train filled with coal go through Carlisle?

Joy Global does not care about its employees. They care about one thing, profit percentage. They saw a chance to raise their profit margin on feeder breakers 2 or 3 percent and went for it. Bill Stamler would have never thought such a thing. He cared about his employees. As long as Stamler was making money and his employees could put food on the table, he was happy. All I can say is shame on the Joy management team, specifically Sean Fitzgerald. I hope Cogar and Cat get all the Feeder Breaker buisness from now on...

Clevelander posted that they have been warned that they could be moving all to China. Now if you have ever been to China you would know they mine a LOT more coal than we do, they use coal in making electric, steel, and any other thing they can use it for. The place smells like coal burning all the time especially in cold weather/seasons. So joy has a market in China who is all out on coal and Obama stated from his own lips he would bankrupt any coal related industry. So yes it is in no small part, Obama's fault.
Bottom line with Obama declaring war on all fossil fuels, taxing the rich to death so they cannot invest in creating new jobs, and bankrupting this country; Joy moving is just the one of the mass migration of jobs that will leave this country in the next 3 years.
Hey, they wanted him, they got him along with all the bankrupting he will force them into.

So how did Stamler get out of it? They made their money from the older ones, there are no heros, just hope you get another job. And thank Obama while you are trying to sustain yourselves.

I blame Mitt Romney and Karl Rove, they weren't smart enough to win the election so Mitt could save the United States single-handedly. What about Andy Barr, the friend of coal, where is he in all this? Wasn't he elected to see to your interests? I haven't heard squat from him since he was elected. Don't blame the greedy ba$+@rds that want 2-3% more and a tax break to boot. How many of you will make $4million in your lifetimes. The rich owners make this kind of money and they don't care if you can make your mortgage or your car payment. Look at the national numbers in all catagories in the Clinton years and the numbers at the end of Bush's 2nd term. See that this country was on the verge of collapse economically and is only artificially propped up now. Then blame whoever you want. That will not change reality.

If you truly believe that this is a piss ant town, why don't you pack up all your things and get your stupid ass out of this town and stay out of all the drama around here.

Why thank Obama, he didn't pay a cent of the unemployment insurance they should be entitled to while looking for work. But unfortunately, he probably spent that too.

I work every day. Been laid off three times due to either outsourcing or plant shutdown. I have never seen anyone get paid to whine so I went out and found a new job. I even turned down unemployment so I wouldn't get lazy and stayed motivated. Not many can say the same. Not many at all.

Also a lie:

Finlay said the company would continue to have a presence in Millersburg, where 37 employees will remain to focus on engineering, sales and marketing.

A few know the real plan to eliminate those jobs too. The fools that are left believe they are moving to a new office in Lexington. They must be drink the Joy Orange Kool-Aid!!

Kentucky went red, the ones who won were the dirty north and west and of course the colored Florida. Romney wouldn't lie, the despot did and has, what a waste, for his glory.
