The state needs to do something to change people's mind-set about iowa enstead of getting mad every-time someone speaks negative about our state, otherwise iowasuck is correct, we are hilbillies. and backwards at that.

well, you have to admit, there's just not that much out there for iowans to be proud about. i mean, there's a lot of corn, soy, hogs, cattle, maybe like three big malls, three major "cities", a lack of religious and ethnic diversity, two bad college sports teams, and the world's largest truck stop. i'll give you guys the benefit of the doubt on the education system there, but there's so few kids to actually educate, leading to a "better" perception of the school system.

you'd think iowans would be proud about hosting the nation's lead-off political event for the presidency and thus show up in support of their nation and the democratic process, but no, only 220,588 people (according to MSNBC) show up. come on people...

I've grown up as a minority in iowa all my life and basically, iowans are the most ignorant white trailer trash people on this planet!!!(I grew up in Iowa City which is the sad part)

Iowans don't care what you think, so say what you want.

But if alcohol were ever made illegal again, like Prohibition returned, there would be chaos in the streets.

Otherwise it's fine.

I've been all over this great county. The big cities are fine to visit and offer a lot, but and Rochester & Sommerset prove, many (not all) big city east coast snobs tend to arrogant asses that don't have a clue where their food or fuel come from.

Once again, I'm pretty sure if I went to des moines and asked random iowans where their food and fuel come form all of them would say iowa, of course because thats all they know, they think iowa is the center of the universe because they are scared of the real world aka anywhere outside of iowa!! thats why iowans love iowa so much becaue they fear the unknown, and basically, they dont mind living in a shithole state

Secondly, iowans always call anyone not from iowa arrogant, or snobs, because in the real world, you can't be a nice iowan and expect people to hand stuff on a silver platter to you, in the real world, there is competition thats why people are more aggressive and thats why iowans always act so nice when they are the ones who dont do anything but drink, and make fun of others that aren't iowan!

Iowa is a pretty straight place to live if you like slow paced lifestyle, thats about it. If your from the area you should get out find out what else exist in the world. if you stay your devlope an iowa state of mind which isn't worth anything.

I spent years in Cali, Coloradi, Tex-@$$, Minnesota... Iowa is the 'normal' part of the country.

Which means it's kind of boring, but the crime rate is low.

The laws are pretty strict, but they don't enforce them too much.

It is nice the NYer was so willing to prove my point. I wasn't making fun of where they live, I love NY. Hell, I'm a Yankee's fan. Upstate is beautiful. Niagra is amazing. NY, NY is like no other place (although a shitty place to raise a family). But, as once again Rochester proves, many (NOT ALL) big city east coast snobs tend to arrogant asses that don't have a clue where their food or fuel come from. Who started the trash talk anyway???

Proud to be Iowan, what point of yours did I prove?

I'm aware that there is no definite 'best place to live' in the country, but I can say with confidence that where I live is a hell of a lot better than where you live.

Daily Horoscope for December 7

Capricorn

The detail-oriented Moon in Virgo is extremely supportive and helpful, so it feels good to know that you can count on some support. You may know just where the help is coming from, but with communicative Mercury all over transformative Pluto in your sign, maybe you're being looked after by your very own guardian angel. Don't let this encourage you to take foolish risks or overstep the mark.
