Full story: Newsday

At times, it may seem that there is but one diner on Long Island - one that was somehow cloned and distributed throughout Nassau and Suffolk.

Whether you go to Kiss the Chef for breakfast, lunch or breakfast at lunch, you're pretty much guaranteed a great meal. You're also guaranteed excellent service. Special requests are never a problem either. It's become a regular lunch spot for many of the employees of the Mineola court complex and surrounding businesses. Highly recommend!!

You must add Poppy's Luncheonette to your list!
It is better than Glen's in Babylon.

Kiss the Chef is under new ownership and the quality of service/food has gone downhill. The head chef is gone. The food is now so-so, but be prepared to never get it the way you request it. Want a salad with no onions? Be prepared to send it back. Order an omelet with fries instead of hash browns? It's going back. A greek salad pita came in a wrap. A salad came with garlic powder all over it.

Bottom line - avoid Kiss the Chef now.

Oh, I forgot - be prepared to search for the cheese on a cheeseburger which also had to go back since "medium well" should not moo when you bite into it.

Mitchell's? Really? The service is good, the food is very average.

Colony Diner in East Meadow is much superior, so is the South Bay in Lindenhurst.

And Thomas Ham & Eggery? Get real. The only thing good there are the eggs, everything else is just average at best.

Daily Horoscope for January 8

Sagittarius

You'll feel friendly with everyone you meet today, and you might even be lucky financially. Money should be coming in, but going out rather fast as well... Astral influences will keep you on your toes, and will probably make you flirtatious, but they could also make you moody. This makes it tricky for close relationships to run on an even keel. The truth is, perhaps you don't want too much closeness at the moment. Your partner probably knows that you're often like this, by now, anyway.
