Flags at half staff for 29 days on the job? Give me a break! In the 29 days he was on duty, he only worked 21 days. The guy never did anything! He did not alter State history. Next time a military veteran dies, lets fly the flag at half staff!!

Half-staff has been so watered down now that it does not even mean anything before. Heck, they even put the US Flag on coffins of LEOs who have never even served in the Armed Forces.

Whether he was on duty for 29 days or 29 years, Troooper Baldridge is owed a debt of gratitude for his sacrifice in the line of duty. May God bless him and his injured partner and each member of the Ohio Highway Patrol. . .and their families.

I think is a terrible tragedy for the family. This young officer just starting on the career of a lifetime, cut down less than 30 days on the job. Please remember, those who have a problem with him being honored, they spend 6 months in the Academy before taking the streets. Please pray for his family.

The Army has a better track record. Ohio tax dollars at work!

Very sad for the family.

But put this is perspective. 500 troppers? When a young man or women, in one of our wars, get killed, they get no respect, no 500 troopers. Being a trooper is one of the safest jobs. I respect, the police, but lets put some perspective on this, not a show for sympathy for the troopers, and a play on our emotions. Sounds like the young man, was not trained, and a poor driver. Sad in so many ways.

That is a fair point on your part. I sometimes wonder whether personal leave is being used to attend these funerals or to what extent the taxpayer is "on the hook". Is there a standard policy for this kind of thing?

Having said that, I continue to salute the fallen officer.

You might want to learn proper English grammar and spelling before you attempt to call some one an idiot. But then again your IQ is in the double digit range and you were probably "educated" in a government school.

Your comments are ignorant and completely distasteful, you not only disrespect yourself, but to all of those who have taken an oath to support and defend this country, military or law enforcement. Regardless of what uniform you wear, when a person takes it upon themselves to go out and uphold the law and defend our country, and is killed doing so, itís no less tragic no matter the uniform. Although you spew ignorance for all to read, they (LEOís & Military) will continue to protect you and stop and help you if need be, and you will surely accept it. Enjoy your freedom to disrespect and undermine a 25 year old kid who was killed while attempting to help another person.
