The history of the Buyout and repair (Joke) of Picher has turned into a nightmare. Millions of dollars has been spent researching the problems of that little piece of Oklahoma.

It has been determined that it is a unsafe area and dangerous to live there because of the lead levels. the first part of the buyout got all the children under 6 years of age out of the area which is good.

It has been a ongoing situation trying to get everyone out of the area as it has been determined that the polution cannot be fixed and unfit for human habitation.

In the following Phases of the Buyout, people have been given lots less that they should have for their property. While others with less valuable property has been given lots more.

Millions of dollars has disapeared to who knows where with no end in sight. A tornado destroyed a very large area of town and the residents was told not to worry that because of it the buyout would be completed very soon.

Not so. People are still waiting and living hand to mouth waiting for the help that was promised.

And now to make things worse. While people are still waiting it has been determined that the area can be repaired or fixed and the EPA has been given another 25 million from the goverment insentive program. To make the area safe.

Past studies has determined that it is irreparable and that is why the buyout was began in the first place.

Take the insentive money, help the people give them a decent rate for their lives and let them move on with their lives in a safe place. But that will not happen, the money will slowly dissapear in more studies and tests.

I have friends that live there and just want this to be over. they are living in limbo. The polutiants are so bad that the lead content is airborn there is so much damage being done to the health of the residents.

What needs to be done is to take this new money, do the right thing and get these helpless people get out of the situation and not waste the money to try to fix something that can never be made right.

It shows that i live off somewhere else. But I live in Miami, oklahoma and my house keeper lives in picher and is so tired of the situation and family health problems.
