I moved out in Sept 07 to make way for the Pioneer Plaza. We decided not to stick around
to see the city tank.

It's the downtown project which included building a parking garage, hotel and retail space.

Yep. 26 Million plus dollars to try and get people passing thru to Dickson City to shop in Carbondale. Maybe the city would be better off spending that money at the Downs in the slots. Any winnings could go to the low life's hanging out downtown who don't want to work.

Well the Mayor keeps saying "Two Weeks" until demo
begins. That's the same line since early 07. Last word was the District Justice was moving July 1st and demo would begin "Two Weeks" after that. Here we are Aug 3rd and not a word. Got to love it. Who is going to pay the million bucks this turd mayor has spend to date on overpriced property??- Surly not him.

I heard the houses on South Church St were torn down to make way for the project. Can anyone confirm this??

And your point is what? You make it sound like two years is a long time. You don't understand a project like this takes time. They had to purchase 4 properties and gut them to tear them down.

I don't care what anyone says. At least this mayor is trying something different to bring in the bucks. Carbondale will be great again, give it some time and don't be a critic until his plan tanks or is a success.

The buildings on south church have been torn down and a gate has been erected around the perimeter.
There is a big billboard that reads "Can you help?" It shows what looks like a thermometer that states they have 6. something million to make this happen, they however need 9 Million or so. At least some progress has been made. Let's not loose faith here. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Ahh the beautiful Pioneer Plaza Planned for Carbondale Pennsylvania... Guess what Carbondale highly doubtful. The fearless leader/squanderer of carbondale aka;Mayor. Is already up to his teeth in bills that he cant pay. Dont expect things to get any better in your once thriving city either. Its past the point of no return- And the ship is sinking with JT at the Helm...

Justin Taylor is an ass. He decided to buy some of the nicest homes in town to tear down. Great idea! Put an eyesore of a parking garage (that will most likely never materialize) in one of the nicest and well kept parts of town.
How about instead of running out people who have been active community members for longer than you've been alive, you clean up the Section 8 TRASH that have taken over town??????

HAAAAA..... WHAAAAAAATTTTTTTT!!!!!! "Mayor Taylor is ruining a nice and well kept part of town". You do not have high expectations for good living.... These home were from the 1890's and far from a nice part of town. Maybe travel to Hendrick Ln where a few Million dollar homes are located.

This may be the best thing that can happen.... The greatest risk in Carbondale is not taking one.

I believe the parking garage will be located underground from what I read in the C'Dale news.

Lets keep the faith folks.
Carbondale will one day return to it's former glory. Then all the real estate prices will go up and people from New York and New Jersey will be the only ones that can afford to buy property here.
