It used to be SIU's reputation was sullied for being a wild party school.
Now, with Poshard's plagerism and whatever Fernando Trevino has done, we find the school's administration cannot conduct themselves in a way to make the Alumni proud...

and Poshard the plagiarist can put himself on paid leave next. Whatever Trevino has done, it must be far worse than passing someone else's writing off as his own. That's just lying and since Poshard is a politician, it must be forgiven.

Dumb as a Bricks lives up to his/her name. Did you go to SIU? Your spelling leaves a lot to be desired. No wonder our country is in such disarray with the INEPT ability of our citizens to work toward getting a QUALITY education! But its so much easier to blame someone else for our own laziness and lack of drive.

Aviation school prepares leaders? Hicktown? Did SIU ask you to come here? And are you saying that none of the universities in Chicago are any good, in that the state needs to close them all down and reconsolidate one "good" school in Chicago? It really sounds like you had a bad time at the "little C". Did you flunk out "Dumb as Bricks"? Oh and by the way, political stink isn't rampant in Chicago? I would much rather smell the fertilizer around Carbondale than the shit you are spreading.

Dear Dumb as Bricks,
Pick up a copy of the SIU alumni magazine to see the great leaders SIU has produced. The area surrounding Carbondale is beautiful. The education I received there was an excellent value.

I am a SIU alumni. I have a great job working for MEC (owned by WPP). I had no previous contacts in the advertising world prior to my employment. I got the job based on my own merit. My clients include Land Rover, Jaguar, Sears, and DHL. By the way…I’m only 23. Kiss my Saluki @#*!

Or your bosses assigned you to empty all those client wastebaskets and bring them coffee when they cross your shop's doorstep? Either you're learning the tricks of ad and PR agency puffery quickly or you're just getting ahead of yourself at an early age, young 'un.

Okay, so the chancellor now has a nice long vacation, courtesy of Illinois taxpayers, yet we aren't allowed to know WHY, except that there are "serious concerns."
So, if everything is being kept a secret out of concerns for the chancellor's privacy, where's the transparency for those of us who are footing the bill?
Illinois politics. Arrrggggh!

I went to SIU, and Grew up in N. Suburbs of Chicago. I have plenty of Co-workers who went to Big Ten and Big Twelve state schools or even higher more established schools (Yale, Harvard). Common thread, hard work is the greatest indicator of success, as well as continual self education. I also have friends that did not go to college, and guess what, They make more than some of the Harvard guys. They think because they have Harvard on a Piece of paper that everyone is gonna hand them a $100,000 salary. People with good grades, extra curricular activities and inner-drive (motivation) from SIU in Stink Town C-Dale will succede more often than not. Dumb as Bricks I ask you, not where you went to school, but what did you do other than shove your nose in a book and get good grades in highschool?

As a proud Alum of Carbondale, it really is a sad state of affairs. The town is an absolute mess. The attendance at the univ has been a constant decline. Glenn Poshard and his buddies are to blame.
Carbondale had, at one point, so many positives that attracted me to go there. It was a great school that has since killed itself off. Darn shame!

Much of this can be blamed on Global Warming. Being south of Chicago the Sun's rays ate stronger on the party kids so their brains cook. THEY SHOULD ALL WEAR HATS!!!!

Dumb As A Bricks wrote: Sure, why not...oust him. In a long line of Illinois 'higher' education tradition, the revolving door of enept management continues. With class room sizes larger than many small Illinois towns and the state funding being derailed and diverted to pet projects and waste, it's a wonder that anyone would choose to either send their kids or want to 'go' to the Little C. Being stuck in hicksville USA is bad enough, but, to suggest that students at the Little C are getting anything other than a mediocre education is sheer madness. Sure, suspecnd, expell, do - whatever with the Chancellor, it won't matter. Little C {apart from its Aviation School} hardly prepares future leaders. Why not just close it? Northern, Carbondale and Champaign. Give me a break, wy not relocate and consolodate these into a single quality university in Chicago? OK, you can keep the ag-school in central Illinois, but, the rest needs to come up to where the air doesn't stink of so much fertilizer, i.e. away from Blogo and the political hacks in Springfield. If you want to see a state university system that's run right, look to California. Sadly, Illinois runs our state system like it {the hacks} run everything else - INTO THE GROUND! Blago never gets anywhere near Springfield so you don't have to worry about him.

I hope there is some more investigate work on behalf of Trib reporters to do a more complete story and explain just why this guy was placed on leave. It should not be that hard to interview professors, student leaders, etc. The salary we are talking about is HUGE, after all...this is a story that is important to anyone who pays state taxes and something that deserves a lot more attention.

I'm a PR professional and your words were exactly what I thought when I read Smith's entry. To Smith....GET OVER YOURSELF! The PR profession does not need anymore ignorant and self-absorbed girls thinking that they've made it big with the big named clients. And you didn't even "get those clients" yourself! Once you've landed United, Wrigley, or any other large clients YOURSELF, then you have the right to brag! Until then, GET OVER YOURSELF!
