Otherwise I would get beaten by them all the time.

Violence is an unfortunate necessity of police work. You should be glad police are willing to commit violence on your behalf. If the police didnt do it then you would have to do it just to survive. There will always be wolves that want to pray on the sheep. Police are the sheepdogs that protect the sheep. The job of sheepdog requires a strong backbone and sometimes an iron fist. It makes no sense for a sheep to sympathize with a wolf unless you are actually a wolf in sheeps clothing.

Your statement assumes we are sheep and there are not wolves in sheepdog clothing. The majority of cops are decent people but alot of them abuse their power. What better way to impose your will than to have a badge and gun?

What an idiotic statement! You can't even ask a Carterville cop a question without them getting in your face, and THEY make the threats. More like little boys in men's clothing.

Your statement of "You should be glad police are willing to commit violence on your behalf." I oppose violence, and that statement alone tells me you are blind as a bat when it comes to life in general. As opposed to violence as I am, If I want to kick someone's ass, I do not, and will not call a punk with a badge to do it. I will handle the situation myself. Yes, there are bad cops, you are not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

Police are also opposed to violence. But when the $h1T hits the fan its the police who are called and holding to their sworn duty to protect and serve they sometimes have to commit violent acts. They dont do it for violent's sake as criminals do but because violent acts of criminals can be addressed only with violence. The safest way to handle an active shooter is by shooting back. Both are violent acts but only the latter is lawful. I am speaking in generalities and not specifically about the Carterville Police. I was correct in saying that police commit violence on your behalf. You wouldnt be opposed to it if you were being held hostage and the police came in and rescued you by shooting the hostage taker. An extreme example I admit but it does happen. We will never know how many times a criminal saw you or me with something they wanted and only their fear of the police kept them from taking it by violence. I am thankful for the police knowing they will put themselves in harms way and commit violence on my behalf.

I am talking about every day happenings, such as domestic calls, cars parked to close to the sidewalk and not the road, dogs barking, trash cans tipped over., etc., and being addressed as "Hey Motherf+ucker", they want problems. The amplify many situations. Your constant statement of "commit violence on my behalf", makes me wonder if you are hearing "They Are Coming To Take Me Away, Aha, Oh Ho, Hee Hee"!!!! Sad thing in this town, Southern Justice still prevails. Wearing a badge doesn't make a person a decent person. Let them come and take YOU away... ;)

By the way bangin, all cops are not bad, but a bunch are just punks with authority. NOBODY as you say "police commit violence on your behalf" does my "stuff" for me, I own rental property, have had to deal with alot of freeloaders, they get violent with me, I return it seven-fold, and I do not need a punk cop to commit violence "for me". They take a swing at me, I hit them seven times back. I do not know how things are in Carterville, for I live in Benton, but I have heard horror stories about Carterville Police. I would sue their pants off! That's coming from a a 3 Tour Of Duty Vietnam Veteran, who may be a little old, but can still hold my own and then some ;) Cops would tell the freeloaders they have more rights than me and try to ship my a++ off to jail. Sa but I agree with the above poster, Toto, you are not in Kansas anymore.

Police entered Mr. Shepard's home and beat the hell out of him, he threw his hands up to protect his face from the beating, the cops nailed him for resisting arrest. Mr. Shepard doesn't have a bad bone in his body, I've known him all his life. This shit has to stop one way or another!!!(P.S. occupant in Mr. Shepard's house had not one mark on her, yet he was beaten and jailed for domestic battery)!!!

This shit has to stop one way or another!!!(P.S. occupant in Mr. Shepard's house had not one mark on her, yet he was beaten and jailed for domestic battery)!!! Just would like to say people can be abused by someone & not a scratch left. My ex was good at fooling everyone and he still is. He made everyone believe he was abused by me and he was the victim. People think because your family appears nice and perfect the husband is calm and perfect around friends not family that this could not have happened. Police do define abuse as leaving marks though so unless they arrive within minutes your red marks may have faded away. If she's the one that called the police maybe she was terrified of him. Also the few times they were called to my house it was my children calling for me. Otherwise u try to hide it from them when possible. I don't know her but remember there is always two sides to the story and outsiders don't really know the real truth I'd never press charges didn't want him to go to jail he was my kids father & I didn't want him to loose his job either. So I stayed eleven years and leaving required the police while I was attacked by him he gets perfectly calm & cool to come up with a story. Once he even jumped the fence cuz I locked him out to get him to stop he sat perfectly calm on the couch pretending as what's going on why is the police here. The police had to speak to him by phone on several occasions even after I left to say leave her alone. It's still not over all he talks about is killing me and it's been three years. He's spreading it to his friends now I have to worry in which many of his abusive acts involved suffocating me, choking me, threatening me, using his car as a weapon but he's a perfect family man that couldn't have. I regret that I didn't press charges & I didn't tell everything sooner police shouldn't give you an option once they are called it should be u press charges or you pay a huge fine for their services. Once he called the police on me when I was home alone to pretend I'm suicidal so he could get custody of my kids so the thing is I wasn't and I was also glad the officer came out we had a long chat & part of it helped me get out of the situation without having to tell what all is really going on.I just needed to talk to someone & then I turned to my family to help. Some officers though do wrong but the ones that did me wrong are no longer officers. These guys were his friends and they would try to intimidate me in their uniforms while off-duty so I called the chief on them I was scared. It's bad enough to be abused by your ex but also by his friends. Friends should mind their own business really! Let the on duty officers do their jobs not the freaking neighbors uncles relatives....

Look it up (and I lived it) in a relationship, females are more violent. It's not what is the truth, it's what the cops see to be the truth. Women batters more than the man. I feel sorry for you, talk to the domestic violence division in your county's State's Attorney office, and ask for a woman. I went thru that with a woman, and the best advice came from the SA Office, nobody should live in fear..
