For all of you on this website bashing these people for ways they have died...You all should be ashamed of yourselfs. All these souls have been laid to rest, and all you can do is sit online and talk about them and start drama. Let me guess, you all are from Braidwood and never did anything with your lives and feel the need to bash other peoples families! All these people you are talking about are someones son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, aunt, uncle, cousin, husband, wife, girlfrien, boyfriend or friend. How do you think it make these families feel when they read this? How would you like it if it was about your family? Even if some of them died of drugs, it is non of your business to talk about them. What their problem was, was theirs and their families; NOT YOURS! All you b****ing about this on a website is not going to stop anything in this town. Know matter how any of these people have died, I am proud to say I was friend with a lot of them. I dont do drugs...does this make me a bad person? NO it does not! So let these poor souls rest in peace and not bring up the past. Find something better to do besides sit online and talk crap.

I remember back in 5th grade at custer park elementry, we went threw D.A.R.E and at the end of the program we had a poster contest. I won first place with the slogan "take the path to fun world not drug world" i was 10. i really had no idea what they really ment when they said that people are going to pressure u and you just have to say "NO". When i was 15 i got really bad into Cocaine. and believe it or not, its not just braidwood, its essex as well. All my "druggy" friend lived in essex and that was like half the town. by the time i was 16, i was so far gone that i could have cared less about what happened to me. i know alot of people on that list, but Chad Caise was my best friend. and i dont know how many other people died from heroin overdose on that list but if any of you remember back to 2007 there was a type of heroin called "drop dead" that was floating around up in the chicagoland area and it got its name becuase once u stuck that needle in your arm and pushed on that suringe u were dead before u got the whole dose. thats what chad died of. Hes the reason i went to rehab. i didnt want to end up like him. so parents. if you think that D.A.R.E is gonna keep your kids from doing drugs its not. most kids this day and age are getting high for the first time at 9. make sure your kids are educated.

Thank you for sharing your story, last year my child was a 5th grader at RCIS......they canceled the dare program due to budget cuts. It seems to me that was the worst possible cut they could have made. It might not have been the school it could have been dare itself that had budget cuts, I really don't know who was responsible, it's sad because today kids need all the education that they can get.

It was the police budget that dropped the DARE program, not the school. I agree with you that the DARE program was a good resource for kids.

Not only do the kids need all the formaleducation they can get, they need good parental support. Parents can educate also. Too much is expected of the educational system. Schools can only do so much. Kids need it ALL - school and parents.

D.A.R.E. was cut from the Will County Sherriff's budget at the end of 2009. There was one county D.A.R.E. officer and deputies who participated, but if was too much of a financial burden, and the officers had to be assigned back to parol.

Why can't you teach your children yourself about the evils of drugs. I assume these young people had parents. Parents that are too busy, too tired, too drunk, or too wrapped up in themselves to take the time to sit with them, and explain the consequences of getting involved with drugs. I could never understand why people had children they couldn't care less about.

Whoever wrote those naive comments about PARENTS being responsible for what their children do as adults apparently has never had TWO of their children DIE after doing EVERYTHING possible to teach them how to be responsible, caring and productive citizens. My sons were raised by loving parents. They were honor roll students, boy scouts, athletes.... They weren't raised by LAZY DRUNKS, blah blah blah. U can teach them values and right from wrong and pray when they venture off on their own they live what they were taught. People of all ages make poor choices and bad decisions!! Get off ur soap box and quit trying to make the parents and families of these young victims feel guilty. Theres already enough blame going around. I did my best...they're still gone. I pray u never have to endure that kind of agony. I was and stii am a damn GOOD mother and shame on you for implying otherwise!! I am Chris and Joey Cvitanovich's mother and proud of it. Their lives are not defined by their mistakes, they also did a lot of GOOD and should be remembered for that!

Some were accidental, others intentional, and some probaly just did'nt know what they were doing to themselves. In any case it is still VERY sad especially considering I used to live there & moved (for one reason being) just too many people I knew were dying. I very close to a couple of them and their families. My heart does go out to all of them.

Hi, I used to know Justice Carr and every now and then I am haunted by his story and what happened to him. I didn't meet him in Braidwood. I met him on a ferry he'd taken to Alaska with his Grandma the summer before he died. I had a picture of him once but can't find it now. He was a gorgeous soul and I hope he knows that he isn't forgotten.

Braidwood PD will just keep enforcing minor moving violations instead of interrupting the heroine business in town. Maybe they are profiting from it too.

It does appear the braidwood pd does have a vested interest in the local heroine market what with the open dealing going on in front of the gas stations and at houses near the police station. I think we need to eliminate the PD and let the county take over. Maybe then we will have real law enforcement.
