Explosion and head-on collision closes Hwy 6 in Coal Valley

Emergency crews are right now on the scene of an explosion and head-on collision involving a small tanker truck and a minivan.

Actually, it's a dump truck that happen to be hauling asphalt at the time.

We followed the wrecker down route 6 after the clean up. The whole front end of the dump truck was gone,all that was there was the dump bed and the back wheels, no sign of the cab whatsoever. It almost looked like a dump trailer that dump trucks haul but I'm pretty sure it was a truck. Also it's pretty hard to fall asleep right where it happened , you slow down in Coal Valley and then speed up coming out so he had to be aware coming through town.

Aslo I'm not from Albany Like it says above I'm from Colona. And if your really falling asleep at the wheel you probably should not be driving on public roads. I understand people work and get tired but I work 10 sometimes 12 hr days and have never come close to falling asleep at the wheel

People if you cant drive without falling asleep then stay off the road. there had been to many idiots driving and to many people are getting hurt.

Ridiculous!! The trucker was coming from Coal Valley and he was not the one who supposedly fell asleep. It was the guy in the SUV that crossed over and hit the truck. The SUV had been driving on a straight strech of road and could easily have nodde off BUT - nobody KNOWS for sure he fell asleep!!!
