Federal fugitive arrested at Caraway

CARAWAY — A 52-year-old man was in custody Monday on a federal warrant, alleging he did not report to prison in Texas, Bob Clark with the U.S. Marshals Service said.

Authorities arrested Dennis Applegate at a home on Arkansas 158 west of Caraway about 9:15 p.m. Sunday.

Clark said Applegate had been sought by authorities since Applegate fled.

“He was supposed to report for sentencing, but he did not,” Clark said.“He was given 46 months in federal prison but did not report.”

Applegate was wanted by federal marshals in Texas for a failure to appear charge.

Clark said Applegate was charged federally with threatening a federal protectee.

Details on what led authorities to seek the charge were not immediately known, Clark said.

Clark said Applegate was wanted in Wyoming on attempted first-degree and attempted second-degree murder charges.

that was my thought exactly....i have family and friends that still live in town and they were are freaked out about it....it sure isnt like it used to be living there, everyone knew everyone in town and a stranger was checked out
