Barrios Unidos Founder's Grandson Pleads No Contest

The grandson of Barrios Unidos' founder and a second man pleaded no contest in Santa Cruz court on Thursday to attempted murder with gun and gang enhancements.

Not a word from "Nane" Alejandrez, founder and executive director of Barrios Unidos. A simple "I love my grandson and he will always be my family, but this shows you where the gang life will lead and it is never good" would have sufficed. Some BU folks must be disappointed he didn't get probation or "counseling" through their in-house services that purport to rehabilitate such criminals. Looks like BU's curriculum of teaching gang-affiliated youth that they should be proud aztec warriors isn't working out so well. Non-profits may need a performance review to see if what comes out of them is worth how much goes in.

BU has had good intentions but if this is what can fall through the cracks, it's time for some better boards.

No one will oppose this group and their "leaders" they are the darlings of the left, Non violent resource center and RIP, Scott Kennedy. Scan topix and people mention rapists on staff, drugs, counselors betraying gang members to other gang members, ie setting them up, adultery, child molesters. This is why the gangs are still raging out of control, there is no real help for them.
