I worked for a business that had their employees pledge a certain percentage of their pay checks to United Way. I participated in the pledge, but then I found out what the head of United Way's annual salary was, plus some associates. I immediatly dropped the pledge and investigated other organization saleries, including the Red Cross. I now only give to the Salvation Army. Check'em out - - - - -

the salary of a given individual is NOT the point, however, ALL of the administrative costs should not exceed 10%

the donations need to go to the funded projects not postage, rent, utilities, salary, printing, etc etc, ie administration

I know all about it! It's not just the UW ED salary, it's the salaries of the umbrella non profits. I know everything about them and how they treat employees.!

It does and exceed and they convulude it to the board because of the gap audit that covers two years and overlaps and most individuals cannot understand or read the gap audit so they take the word of the UW lies and the board members that are on the board to make their resumes look good. The FD board (funds distribution board) are people that like power and want to control the non profits that they think are not doing what UW wants them to do. They have their favorites. Been there done that. They also take from CFC for expenses that should NOT be taken.

You can request a copy of the IRS 990 for united way via the IRS and they will give it to you free. UWay CPA's take as long as possible to file anway. The agencies can change the fundraiser costs/admin costs anyway they see fit (shows admin overhead) and it is perfectly legal.

So when a girl doesn't want it, she can abort it herself on YOUR doorstep or you can pay for it and care for it when she gives birth and doesn't want it!

The CEO of the national United Way may receive that much, alamo senior, but our local United Way director receives a small fraction of that amount.

it is simply not logical to think the alamo UW director's salary is 3/4 million per year
In fact, it is silly
They waste a lot of money

Salvation Army has had some bad people running it in the past...and are a very judgemental organization.

Red Cross Ex Ex-director Vigil in Tulie absconded and embezzled a lot of money from our local Red Cross and was incarcerated.
