If we did that we'd have to prosecute 90% of them....O.L.

The person that started the poll clearly is a weenie that should not be carrying a weapon. Those that feel defenseless without a weapon are those most likely to use it inappropriately. Maybe get off your lazy asses and get to a gym. Then you don't need to shoot someone because you are a wimp.

I started this poll. I have a red belt in taekwondo and a blue belt in moo duk kwan. I have yet to find any black belt of any degree that can effectively block a bullet, get a brain Weenie.

Seems to me that there are plenty of gun-free zones all over the US and world, and as such there are great choices available for those who don't like the constitutions of NM and/or USA - Maybe those who prefer the perceived security of such gun-free zones should get movin' on out to those locations. Nearby choices include California, Chicago, Wash DC, NYC, Connecticut, Canada, Cuba, Venezuela, and Mexico. Good luck there.

Had you put real effort into a martial art rather than the ones easy enough to become fad you would have developed an awareness and a sense of purpose that would always put you in the right place with the proper awareness to spot someone about to take a shot long before he becomes a threat. In most cases those unable to operate clearly mentally and physically are the kind to fire wildly and blindly ducking behind whatever or whoever they can.
For those of you considering the korean dance steps google jhoon rhee robbery. Top practitioner of his time. Two unarmed teens on open street.
I have taught martial arts for quite awhile and have multiple degrees as a blackbelt. During my training and during the training with my advanced students I make it aware that what you see in the movies is not real life. If you come across someone with a knife, odds are you will get cut. Someone with a gun, you will probably be shot. It is the training that gives you the confidence and the reaction to deal with such an attack but you will NOT come away unscathed. I do not have bionic vision and probably wouldnt be able to be aware of someone taking a long shot, up close is another situation. Even with all my skill and training, I prefer to be armed.

Seems to me that this mayor is out of line on lots of issues, not just this one. If he would spend as much time running the village as he does sticking his nose in issues where it does not belong, polarising people and starting petty fights that are unprofessional and unethical, we residents would be a lot better off.

If the weapon is drawn then you have failed to maintain situational awareness. If all you have to rely on are the modern korean dance moves then you will be cut or shot. That is what gives the combat arts a second rate status. The ones most are learning were devised by people rejected from training in the established effective forms. Hell Newt G. Is a TKD black belt.

In the highly unlikely event that I will ever be in an armed assault situation, I will take one "armed citizen" rather than a dozen folks with black belts.
I carry my weapon to protect myself and my family, not to take the law into my own hands.
Folks that are opposed to open or concealed carry should take the concealed carry class, just to learn what is invovled with the responsiblilty of carrying a firearm. They will learn that it is not a decision that is made lightly, that there are all sorts of rules and regulations and that there are consequences for their actions.
BTW: I guess the mayor didn't learn his lesson after being publicly spanked the last time he stuck his foot in his mouth over gun control.
When is the next Village Council meeting? Maybe the good, law-abiding folks of Ruidoso should attend and exercise their right to open carry their firearms.

I find that 'oladacock' quite annoying. Do you know what 'oladacock' means? Is that Sioux?

Too many rich old crooks (including a couple on the council) for that to ever happen.

From what I understand it's not a council member situation, it's a citizen with proof of wrongdoing going to the county clerk thing. I may be wrong tho.

How many of you men with guns have used those weapons to protect yourself or your family from harm? How were you threatened? Who threatened you?
Where do you feel safe?

You must be a sexist pig, who says anything about men? Had 30 in a CHL class this last week, over half ladies. Not falling for you looking to question the decisions others make. No man should tell another when, where, how, or with what they choose to defend themselves and families with, that is their choice alone.....O.L.

Ever heard of safety in numbers.
The more likely a coward thug is going to confront someone who can defend themselves the less likely they are to commit the act.

alborn should be familiar with caned hunts being from Texas. These cowards that commit these horrific attacks against defenseless people are attracted to areas that they know they will meet little no resentence.
