I think if you poll the majority of the locals (who are here year round). You will find it is the business owners (some of whom come and go with the tourists, and the officials that see the added revenue from tax and fines that want the tourists here. I believe that many of the year round residents don't want the roads and stores clogged with tourists. Especially those tourists that are rude and condescending in the stores and on the roads. There was a time it meant more employment for the year round residents. But, with businesses now bringing students from other countries in for the summer jobs our students have difficulty finding work. I for one would like a chance to enjoy summer at the shore since I live here without tourists taking up all the parking spots and making shopping a nightmare. Just my feelings and humble opinion.
