This event had nothing to do with a meteor shower. More likely, it was a large individual meteor or meteoroid that broke up as it entered the atmosphere.

If sonic booms were heard, there may have been meteorites produced close by. Jacksonville IL and the surrounding area seems to be a likely search area so far. Anyone with information, please email me at biscuit_40@yahoo.com

I saw a flash of blue/green light with a ball of bright light heading towards the ground as I was going home from Jacksonville, IL...approximate time was 7-7:15 p.m. on 10/31/08. It was traveling from NW to SE.

I also saw a huge, wide ball of light shooting across the sky in the early evening while Trick-or-Treating here in DeKalb, Illinois.

I saw a bright meteor, it left a streak about 12 inches long (a ruler held out at arms length) and that tail of sparkling specks glowed for about 3-5 seconds after the bright meteor dot flared out. It was at about a 60 degree angle up from my horizon, I was facing N and the streak was from NW to NE. It was awesome. Palatine, IL. About 7-7:15pm Halloween night.

What I saw very closely resembles what Larry F saw. At about 7:05 Halloween night it travelled from west to east. There was one main object, plus three or four smaller ones, all with trails of sparks. I saw it for about 2 seconds before it disappeared behind a building. I was in Roselle, Illinois facing north.

I saw a brilliant meteor on nov 20 thursday night at about 11:30-12at night. It faintly lit the ground and had a trail that was faintly visible about 1 min after the the meteor broke up and it covered about 3/4 of the sky. It was so bright it probably would have been faintly visible in broad daylight. Definitely the brightest meteor I've ever seen. Oh I'm in east central Missouri and the meteor was traveling from the NW to the east South east. I live in town and the first thing I said while it was streaking across the sky was HOLY @^#*.

My Husband and I saw a this on Nov. 20th at about midnight - give or take - it appeared to land in the Mississippi River (we were driving and saw this to the right of us...the tail had color to it). Though it probably didn't land in the river, it was amazing to see. It sounds like this has been seen all over the world on 11/20/08. People from Canada, the US, and Korea all saw it.

My husband is driving to Iowa tonight on 88 just east of DeKalb and saw what he thought might be a small plane going down but believes it to have been a meteor. The biggest he has ever seen.
Anyone else see it?

Daily Horoscope for May 19

Scorpio

There are days when you feel you can't say or do anything right, but happily this isn't one of them. In fact, it's a wonderful day in which everything goes well and it's remarkably easy to get on well with whoever happens to be around. Not that you want to spend your time with just any old person. You'd much rather get together with some close friends or that special someone in your life.
