What grocery stores would be good for couponing. I live in a very small town with only one very small grocery store. I watched the lady from Whitewater on TLC's "Extreme Couponing" and would like to try saving my family money. I would have no problem traveling 45 miles to Cape to shop.

Go to country mart in Jackson. They usually have double or triple coupons that you can add to in store discounts and they aren't too picky on the amount of items.

Country mart and schnuchs are both expensive. I would not advise going unless you have some really good coupons. Save-a-lot is pretty good. And of course there is always Walmart, but in my opinion, they are not as great as they say they are. I am a huge fan of coupons and almost everywhere in the cape/Jackson are will take them. I'm not sure how close you live to these towns though. If you have coupons, use them, they will save you, especially if you are having to drive a long distance to get groceries, they will help with the gas money.

Amy from a recent episode of extreme couponing did her trip on the show at Cape's Schnucks, an order of over $1000 and she paid $9.10 So yes generally Schnucks is more expensive than others, but in this case I think she has even the most frugal shopper at Aldi's beat.

Amy if you happen to read this, I would totally pay for couponing 'lessons' from you! I am a single working mother, so I wouldn't have the time to put into it as extreme as you have done it, but on the same note I am a single working mother who would MORE than appreciate knowing some of how you do this. Even if I could do a fraction of what you do it would be amazing! You could charge a minimal fee for maybe a couple sessions and then you'll have your grocery money for the month!:)

Where does she get all of her coupons? Most of the ones I see say limit one coupon per purchase.

I found the whole episode to be a fraud and don't see what you could learn from this lady. From what she was buying, I don't see how she was putting one meal together, let alone a few for weeks. Croutons, not lettuce? Boxes of noodles (with loads of sodium)? My Schnucks doubles coupons up to 50 cents but limits it to 15 being doubled and no more than 3 of one coupon. Of course the Cape store could be different.

I think one can learn more online on how to organize and how to match coupons to deals. But to pay for a class? Isn't the whole point to save money?!

Actually, Save-A-Lot does take coupons. They just Dnt have alot of brand names there. And Schnucks is more expensive but if u wait til they have their 10 for 10 sales, plus using ur coupons, u really can save alot!!!! They also do have some pretty good sales there, too. I do want to attend this coupon class as long as it's free.....

The class was great. It was informative, fun and I learned a few things that I didn't know about couponing. Amy was up front about the few things said in her episode that were not true and that was the show that put them in for extra "drama". Yes, she bought things that she had coupons for that she could get at a huge deal like she did. Would you not get 90 boxes of croutons for free if you could and then say, go donate them to the women's shelter or food pantry? And she called 2 weeks ahead and ordered them so she did not clear the shelf leaving none for any other shoppers. The point of the show is to show the EXTREME couponing, not the "save $1 on your 20.00 purchase" type deals (just an example) and in her case these were the things she was able to get and all for under ten bucks. Amy is great, she seems to be a positive lady who is just trying to save her family some money AND is showing others how we can save money on our grocery bill also. The $10 was SO worth it for the few hours of learning and laughing, also. And yes, the Cape Schnuck's does not limit the amount of coupons that you use. I know a few up north do as my mother lives in St Louis and that is the way her store does it (limiting to 15 coupons that is.)
