There are tunnels all over Cape where slaves could rest for a while until decent Whites and Black people could help them continue their journey to the North where the states were free states.

The big White house at Washington and Middle also has underground slave passages. So you can go down there and take your illegal drugs, and screw each other not caring about the historical significance of the places. Then puff out your Albino chest and convince yourself of how wonderful you are.:-_

There was no such thing as a pipe back in the mid 1800's in this area. So if there was a space there big enough to walk around in it was a slave tunnel for sure. Remember Cape was on the side of the Confederacy. That's why it is such an insane place today.

Remember now I'm giving you my opinion. I've never been in the house, or read anything about it. So it is OK with me if you take the high road on this topic.:-)

I heard about these when I was there in the early 2000s. From what I understand, they connected the Towers complex with several buildings on campus. At one time, they supposedly were for evacuations and maintenance, but I don't think they're used anymore.

The tunnels connect every building on the campus. That is where all the telecom runs from building to building. Nearly every building has an access door somewhere. In the library it is on the bottom floor near the elevators. You also used to be able to get in through a lid in the street right behind academic, probably can't anymore.

One of the telecom guys told me they drive a John Deere Gator in the tunnels instead of walking. Not sure where that access point is though.

The tunnels under SEMO are utility service tunnels.
Most originate from the Physical Plant and go to most of the buildings on campus.
They are not intended for non-employee access. Some tunnels you can walk in and some places you would have to crawl. Magill Hall has a passage under the practice field going to the Physical Plant basement, smile for the cameras.

You are only free because my white ancestors knew that slavery was wrong and fought and died for your ancestors to be freed.

Ha, been a long time since I thought about this. I met my wife at SEMO in the early '90s, and the building she lived in was known for having easy access, I want to say it was the Methodist house. We used to go down there on several occasions. It can be fun until you run into the cables and wires down there. There was also a pretty well known access right behind academic, you just had to make sure the music majors didn't see you crawling in.

Well at least my "albino" chest isnt ashy and is B.O. free. Doubt you can say the same King of the cargo. By the way, I doubt you are Jewish, because if you were you would at least have a job and not spend your days on here longing for some sense of self worth.

I really wish you guys would take your stupid racial epithets elsewhere. Nobody here cares what color your skin is, only who you are. I may be white, and some of you doing this black, but MLK was right - judge a man on the content of his character, not the color of his skin. Believe me, doing so will expose many members from all races as awful people.

Again, where do you ever get your information from. Cape as on the side of the Union, why do you think General U. Grant had and others had a station in the Port Cape building. There were at least 4 forts used by the Union, and The battle of Cape where the Confederacy was repelled.

Admit it you just make up shit as you go along dont you?

The KGC hid many a cache in tunnels in Cape in case any of our boys got locked in. They could read the KGC symbols and recover the cache to buy their way to freedom. Those Union soldiers would jump for a piece of gold. No doubt a lot of it is still there since we have not checked nor re-hid anything inside the Cape city limits. Cape County is a different matter. From here to Kansas, most caches have been rebootied with gold and silver in case any KGC members need it.

I would be willing to bet that your are the same type of moron that believes the "underground railroad" was an actual train in a tunnel like a modern day subway. Your complete and total ignorance and racism shows through in every post you make. You never learned from the old adage about remaining silent and being thought a fool or speaking up and removing all doubt because with every statement you post there is no doubt at all that you are a racist pig who is only here to stir crap and try to make yourself feel better about your self by blaming others for stuff that happened over a century ago. It is nobody's fault but your own that you are a total loser and waste of flesh that is just using up our good oxygen. People like you that spew your racism and hate are what help to keep good honest and hard working black people looked down upon and I am ashamed that you are part of the same race as I. Do our whole race a favor, get the chip off your shoulder, forget the past and strive to make the future better. If not for yourself then for the rest of us.

Here you are proving once again most everything you post is inaccurate. Cape WAS NOT on the side of the Confederacy. You continue to show your lack of intelligence everyday.

I've been under the campus. There are many ways to get in, the university has a huge security problem with it. Actually you can get in the dome of academic at night time and look out the windows. Best sight in cape.
