What do ya think

I am thinking that all of the local musicians could get together and do a Christmas Benefit show with all of the proceeds going to Shivelbines so they can actually buy some inventory. We could include a donation drive and some could donate unused instruments and the like to help build there inventory. Just a suggestion.

Or they could do us all a favor and close their doors.

When they are gone, you will be crying for someone like them to be in business. Better make the best of it while you can.

You have to keep in mind that Shivelbine's is actually 2 stores. One side sells TVs, drums, and band instruments (flutes, trumpets, etc) while the other side sells pianos & guitars.

The guitar side sucks.

I thought they closed years ago. I haven't been in there in over 30 years. Who goes there and what do you actually buy there???

They are way tooooo tight to do that! You would better luck going to a school or church. Or if you want some good music contact a bar and get some local rock bands!

You know they DO sell stuff for classical musical instruments like saxophone, clarinet, flute, etc. and students in the Cape & Jackson bands especially need that store for reeds and cleaning supplies and stuff. I don't even know where we'd go if we didn't have Shivelbine's.

Are you one of game fans? Are you one of the Guild War 2 fans, or WOW fans, or Diablo 3 fans? Are you interested in shortcut to farm game gold, or get abundant game gold with little money? Are you crazy for upgrading fast? If the answer of the question is "Yes", welcome to this site - http://www.gw2goldsale.com .

Does Brett Yount still work there? He used to be pretty helpful.

Shivelbines has been a Cape Girardeau treasure for years.

You need something they can get it. You need a video camera repaired,if they can't do it, they will get it done.

What is it with all these turds slamming local businesses?
I just wish this particular local business would get their act together.

Cape is ripe for a real string shop.

Cape is not condusive to any small business. All the powers that be, including all the Cape and County taxes and business regulations and ordinances make Cape the last place to try and start a business.

Hmmmm, any idea how many kids start playing violin every year in the region? How many starter guitars are bought at Best Buy, online at Guitar Center and Musicians Friend? How many in Cape go to Mayberry Music in Anna? Buy accessories like, yes, strings, straps, music books, amps? Lots. Combine that with someone that really knows setup and repair, and you'd have a winner here.
Operation Northwoods wrote:
Stringbean... if, as you say....."Cape is ripe for a real string shop. ", how many strings would a "string shop" have to sell a day in order to stay in business?
That is one hell of a lot of strings. Not very feasible in Cape.

They would still be fighting an uneven, uphill battle compared to having a store in Jonesboro, Il, or anyplace outside the city limits of Cape.
