If someone is on SSDI disability, than technically it is THEIR money that THEY PAYED IN... So they can do what they want with it. Many of the older people spend their retirement-disability at the casino...why do you think there's always old.people playin slot machines for hours on end?
SSI is different... so it depends on what form of "disability" you are speaking of. SSI only supplies minimal amounts. There's no way someone would be able to afford to do all that JUST on SSI

That is totally different SSI I was talking about!! Cancer and being sick in that way of course totally understandable. BUT just being looney and taking pills NO way they don't need a gun lic. They are taking pills cause they cant work and are crazy!!. Some people just don't want to work and get a attorney just so they can receive a check and truly those are the people that don't need to have a gun lic. If you are disable and say you are mentality disturb. why should you have a gun lic?? Regarding SSI it was never suppose to be ment to live on only a supplant to other income these days people try to live on it.

True. And I know a couple of women who get it for anxiety/stress/depression but they keep having kids and no one investigates them! I'm sorry but if you're too stressed to work you shouldn't be allowed to spit out illegitimate kids!

Supplant to other income? What other income? You can work while your on SSI. As soon as you start making a cent more you have to report it,send in your check stubs and there goes your supplant. We are talking minimum wage at a 30 hour job will wipe out your whole $600 SSI monthly check. What is this other income you earn and keep SSI as well?

From what I understand if you get SSI you are considered disabled. Its not full social security benefits because the person didn't pay in enough? Either way neither one is enough to live off of.
Believe you me there are a lot of people who are truly disabled who would like to work and make a better life for themselves.

You really need to be black to get ant assistance from the government at all. Sorry.
There goes another dummy from Elmhurst Illinois playing the Race Card, and of course no Albino here said a word to them about it.

Those Elmhurst people must have the mentality of Cro-Magnons. They are the most ignorant people I have ever seen online.

White people have always been the biggest recepients of all sorts of welfare in this country. Just go to Google.com and type in the words "What race in America receives the most government assistance?" Look for website that end in ".gov" You will get honest factual answers there. Stay away from sites that blame everything on Black folks. Those are insane people like the poster to whom I am responding.:-0

Hey, if its a married couple and one is working I don't think the other is aloud to receive SSI because the working one has an income. I don't know for sure but I think their spouses income will knock them out of SSI.

True. I get SS disability for an incurable chronic debilitating illness. I hope for a breakthrough, cure or miracle. I worked since I was 15. I'm almost 50. I miss working terribly. I worked for years after my diagnosis until it progressed too far. I actually receive a substantial amount but I paid into SS for over 32 years. I worked alot of hours & I worked hard. I personally don't think there should be SSI, the kind people who haven't worked enough or not at all get. Let them fight for welfare. FYI I got disability after my first application, without an appeal, without an attorney.

If you follow, film, wether secretly or not and your not a licensed PI. It's stalking and you can be prosecuted. Even sued. I can assure you that if you receive SS Diabilty you are double and tripled checked by Disabilty Determination and their Doctors. Very few people have paid into SS thru work history to draw much every month. And if you are on alot of Meds, you have to pay out of your own pocket. Medicare does nt pay for scripts unless you pay extra for part D. People who sit around and think of ways to get people of Disabilty have other motives. Almost sounds like people are jealous of Disabled people. Crazy.

I would rather have people that need the ssi receive it than they just sit in pain and not get the proper medical they need. Some people are just pill popping people that don't want to work and just want a check. Regarding if your married that would be unfair if the man worked and the wife is still working and the man got sick and couldn't collect what he paid into for so many years.

I don't know about SSI but with SS disability the kind you get when you paid in. My spouse's income was never even considered. I'm able to collect what I paid into all those years, no questions were even asked. I hope that helps. I'm not an expert on all of it. I just know some about SS disability.

ssi both spouse can receive but if one passes then that spouse can choose to take the other one or keep there's which everyone is grater. regarding ss disability thanks for the update. I thought that too but I'm no expert either. It would be totally wrong to punish your spouse if you collected and made him quit his job or work pt.

I have been through three plant shutdowns. Each one went overseas. Of the first two I was fortune enough to find a job right away but the third I had to sell my home and move.
I was not going to settle for any minimum wage job, that may sound like uppity to some but I had been working for why above minimum wage for years and my skill set was much higher than minimum wage workers, so I sent resumes to the business within a thirty mile radius of where I lived. During the time I waited for a job to come along I had drawn Unemployment and received a Medicare card for me and my family. The office visits were close to nothing and the prescriptions were around a dollar. I did not receive food stamps, but the only reason I did "ok" was because I had just sold my home and with that money was able to get by. It took six months to find the job I wanted and I've been there for ten years now. During the six months I was out of work I worked every single day on my "new" home, which was an old farm house, I used the money I had left over from selling my home to fix and repair the house I bought.
Some may say that i should have taken any job that cane along, but fortunately that isn't the way it works. I did not have to take any job under that pay scale I was making prior to being unemployed. Even though once I found the job I did take it was making a few dollars less an hour than my previous job.
I could have drawn food stamps, I could have abused the system much more than I did but I didn't. After being through three plant shutdowns and working my ass off for twenty years I decided I wasn't going to settle for just anything.
The Medicare or cade card helped as well as the 250$ Unemployment I Guy each week, but if I hadn't had money from selling my better home to by an old home there would have been no way I would have it on just what the government provided. Nonetheless I appreciated it, and after all it was mine to use. I paid in all those years. I've worked since I was old enough to walk, literally. My dad was a supervisor at a plant and the laws were more lax back then, when I was a child he put me to work to earn my keep. Even though I didn't get paid, I helped him. I did everything from sweeping floors, stocking and arranging shelves to assembling equipment. So I have literally been working almost all my life. I was taught the value of a dollar at a very young age. I remember his boss giving me a dollar every once in a while when i was around seven years old and above ... and i was very happy to get it. Once I reached the age of 14 I got my first "outside" job and still worked part time with my dad making 2$ an hour until I was 16 and bought my first car with my own money then started to work at a restaurant locally. Other than the six months I was off looking for a job I have been working non stop. In my forties now and feel as if I've done nothing but work my whole life...ha, well I guess I have.
My point is, when i needed assistance from the government I received it without question and without any problems whatsoever. Which is the way it should be for people such as myself who work and always have.
I would hate to think that if i became disabled that i would have to wait two years to receive benefits, that is just ridiculous and unbelievable :(

First off. I'm a white guy. I don't know of ANY black people who are "scamming" SSI. State welfare maybe. But when it comes to "disability" ..I see its white people. Specificly as someone previously said, fat, single, welfare moms who have multiple kids.
