i have never heard that before. wisconsin barge lines, hard work good pay, but you have to cook your own food. but you have to clean up after yourself. most barge lines don't have cooks anymore.

Most big companies have cooks on all their boats. And they are all paying around the same. Smaller companies will pay a little less but it's still a job. There are several companies based out of Paducah & most of them you can submit an application online. Your not gonna have much luck without a driver license tho for a top paying company. Look up Marquette Transportation out of Paducah, they will hire anyone.

my father worked on the river, he was in his 40's. he loved it. he worked 45 days on 15 home. for a while he also work for another barge line, and didn't come home for 4 months. the food were fixed for a king. the food is so good. the money is good too.

Luhr Bro's requires license's because sometimes to have to drive the van or take turns driving the van to catch the boat pretty far away.

i thought most river boat companies, were cutting back to save cost? i talked to a woman who worked as a river boat cook, and she told me that they were cutting back.

Luhr brothers won't hire you without a drivers license. And all of their boats have cooks, by the way. They are the second largest construction company with a marine division in the united states, they haven't had cut backs yet. But I would imagine there aren't a whole lot of companies hiring on new people at all right now with the river as low as it is. Good luck
i didn't know that
